Pugh and Apple are huge Eagles fans

Longtimelurker : 1/13/2018 5:09 pm
Does that bother anyone else?
Waiting for Apple to post something stupid on Twitter.
Hopefully they get their hearts broken today.

Pugh grew up an eagles fan. we've known this since his rookie year

in a side note..

I find it incredibly annoying that Giants.com just posted a feature praising Justin Pugh and his play this season as front page news.

Like...the dude more likely than not will be with the team next season and while it doesn't matter what the post in reality, its just annoying and disconnected to chose him as a "player spotlight".
No

Where any athlete grew up and the regional team they were fans of as kids has never bothered me.

Sure it makes for a good story when a local kid joins "his" team as a pro but other than that IMO it's a none factor.
I would bet that most guys on the team...

did not grow up as Giants fans
How about
darren in pdx : 1/13/2018 5:26 pm : link
we take a poll on every single football player and what their favorite teams were? File this under 'who cares?'
Did it bother you that Victor Cruz grew up a Dallas fan
GiantGolfer : 1/13/2018 5:28 pm : link
back when he was running that 99 yard TD against the Jets?

Didn’t think so.
Apple is from a Philadelphia suburb
Steve in South Jersey : 1/13/2018 5:32 pm : link
only 10-20 miles from Philadelphia.
Be a fan all you want,

but don't sit out a game and then tweet against your own team....please!
Seems to me
mrvax : 1/13/2018 5:45 pm : link
that Apple is overdue for another asinine tweet.
Talks the talk, but he’s not a leader on the Oline.....

and can’t stay on the field. He’s likely to get a huge contract and his flexibility is a major selling point too, but I don’t think it’s going to come from us.
Fairly obvious when we see Pugh line up
Jimmy Googs : 1/13/2018 6:10 pm : link
against them too...
Let Pugh walk.

Apple: if he's gonna screw up, let it be in the next 2 months so we add another CB in FA, and draft 1 also.
It may come as a surprise to some
Modus Operandi : 1/13/2018 8:58 pm : link
But not everyone that plays for our teams was born or grew up in NYC. The fact that they were Eagles fans growing up has nothing at all to do with Pugh's fragility or Apple's fragility (temperment).

What's the alternative, scout and draft only kids who grew up Giants fans?
Give me a team of 53 Dave Browns!

On second thought, no.
LT grew up as a huge Cowboys fan
Greg from LI : 1/13/2018 9:32 pm : link
He chose 56 because Hollywood Henderson was his favorite player.

Sorry Greg had to
I'd put it at 50-50 that he returns next year....

The Giants aren't the only team aware of his injury history. If he needs to sign a one-year deal to prove he can stay healthy (or not), the Giants make as much sense as anyone.
You can almost

Bet big money that Pugh is an Eagle next year. They are going to be tough for a bit I think.

They're actually up against the cap next year, projected to have a little under 2 mill available as of now. Add a projected 4 mill for the cap increase and assume somewhere between 5-7 mill saved in cutting ties with some vets and maybe an extension for Brandon Graham, who has been vocal about a new deal, and they may have around 10 mill. Shave off around 4 for rookie deals and they aren't left with much. At least not enough to bring in any big ticket FAs.

If I'm a betting man, I think DG lets Pugh walk and brings in Norwell from Carolina.

Dude is a rock at LG, and one of DGs best pickups while in Carolina.

Pugh is a fragile schmuck regardless of his favorite team.

How is Pugh a schmuck?
Painful

I live in Kuwait see tons of people from all over the world with Giants, Yankees and Dolphins hats or gear approach many of them they have absolutely no clue about the teams, that shit hurts me.
so they should now ask if prospective draftees are lifelong NYG fans?
Victor in CT : 1/14/2018 10:15 am : link
OR at least not Eagles fans?

FYI, Lawrence taylor was a lifelong Cowboys fan before being drafted by the Giants. Should they not have taken him?
