“I can talk about Pat Shurmur all day,” Perles said. “If the Giants take him, they’ll never regret it. I don’t think they come any better than Pat Shurmur.”
But I'm fairly certain that when Parcells endorsed Ray Handley for head coach, some sportswriter out there write a piece just like this.
So I guess he’s just another handley/mcadoo then? Everyone knows the articles don’t mean much but it’s nice to hear and we should all be optimistic about what appears to be a good hire. Some of u guys are miserable.
because of his time in Cleveland. I actually think that the job he did in Cleveland should be looked as a positive. He went 5-11 his final season, 5-6 after an 0-5 start, despite having arguably the league's worst talent. They definitely had the worst QB group in football. They played hard for Shurmur and I haven't seen anyone of his former players criticize him. The praise he has received from players that he coached is very encouraging. The Cleveland team that just went 0-16 had far more talent than the one's that Shurmur coached.
Only time will tell but if there's one man who knows it would be Perles.
Shurmur is going to be great for the offense. Its really key getting that going but I have my concerns with how Shurmur will handle the locker room. There's a few characters on this roster I think he's going to have trouble coaching. We may want to rid ourselves of them first.

Good post - in fact, didn’t Joe Thomas and a couple of their guys grouse about Schurmur being let go?
Actually, I think they groused about a more recent Â

I was in graduate school talking to a fellow graduate student whom I had just met. His name was Chris. We started talking football, and it became clear to me that this unassuming quiet young man knew more about football than I did.
"How do you know so much about football?" I asked.
"Oh, I'm the Northeast scout for the Steelers," he replied.
"How did you get that gig?"
"My Dad's a coach."
"What... the Oline coach or the LB coach?"
"No, he is The coach."
" Your last name is Noll?"
"Yup."
A very nice guy. Really quiet. My wife worked with him for ten years and had great respect for him. Chuck, on the other hand, was far from perfect beyond the football field.
Would you prefer articles saying how much he sucks? "Another puff piece". Like seriously, what do you want? Nothing written about him? Only negative things? Or would you complain no matter what?
Fluff pieces with new coaches are a given.
There will be some grumbling from a certain segment of Giants fans who were hoping for someone with more flash,....

Of course we were all hoping that Belichick would come here but Shurmur is a damn good coach IMO.

I couldn't agree more.
McAdoo had nowhere near the resume Shurmur has.

all the kudos for McAdoo when he got hired? Just another puff piece.

McAdoo should have never been hired as coach for this team. Would really like to know how this actually happened.

Many testimonials from former associates.
His hold on Mara is not that he's Irish but
that he will soon be canonized.
There were fluff pieces but I actually don't remember one piece where people in the know were predicting greatness for mcadoo.
