I think it is just too risky to take a DC who coached under Belichick because it's tough to decipher whether or not Belichick played a big part in the success of the D. I just have a feeling that he is going to fail as a HC. Shurmur was the right choice.
a horrible game yesterday what did Schwartz do? The Pats, minus Cooks who was knocked out early moved up and down the field on the Eagles. Yesterday to me was basically two teams with the perfect matchup against each others defense.
My comment was directed towards Patricia. I did not see Scwartz's name mentioned in the thread. And, as far as I know, Schwartz is not moving on to a HC position.
happened to decide the game. When you have no pass rush, there's only so much you can do as far as scheming. Patricia can't do the work for these guys - basing how good of a coach he can be based off of only the SB and ignore what was accomplished in the regular season is so incredibly foolish, but expected on BBI.
Imagine Patricia was announced as the new Giants ... Â
... HC after yesterday's shit burger. Tell me how you would feel then. I would be questioning that move. Wouldn't make me right, but yesterday was a defensive breakdown on every level for the Patriots. A fking disgrace with everything on the line.

Wasn't Pat Shurmur named the Giants head coach right after his Vikings offense did almost nothing against an Eagles defense that the Patriots (and Giants) ripped to shreds?

It wouldn't change my opinion in all honesty. Its 1 game, a lot of which is on the players. They simply didn't show up and weren't paying attention/giving their best effort.
But he sucked so bad last night that I hope the Lions don't win a game with him as an HC and he goes back to being a rocket scientist soon. Fuck him.
He might want to catch a shave before the press conference. I’ll just be interested to see how all the teams who hire new coaches , how everything turns out.
1) The Vikings are a second rate franchise that are a poor man's friggin Eagles pre-Super Bowl. The Patriots are arguably the greatest dynasty of all time.
2) The Patriots have Bill Belichick, the greatest defensive mind of all time helping Patricia. Who is Belichick's counterpart on offense with the Vikings?
3) The Vikings' entire team fell apart. In fact, their defense was way worse than their offense. Which leads me to my next point.
4) They are a defensive team built on defense first. They're not a team built to come back from a big deficit. Mind you the Patriots are more of an offensive team than a defensive team but Tom Brady played one of the best games ever by quarterback in the Super Bowl. He gave them every chance to win. The Vikings a defense first team had the defense not show up against the Eagles and did not offer the kind of support Patricia got.
This comparison of Patricia's last game to Shurmur's is lazy at best asinine at worst.

You're comparing a Tom Brady/Gronk led offense to Case Keenum's offense?

Consider what I was responding to.
"Imagine we just hired a coordinator who oversaw a complete shitburger in the playoffs."
Too many opinions being formed based on yesterday.
If you really look at the Patriots' defensive personnel, it's not very good. No Malcom Butler compounded things.
They had an 80 year old James Harrison out there trying to chase skill players around.
Last night's game was certainly not Matt Patricia's finest hour as a football coach, but I do think it's important to note that he didn't have much to work with.
The Vikings defense getting thrashed by the Eagles offense was worse - because MIN actually does have a lot of defensive talent and they were the best defense in football this year.

Well, we did. That's kind of not debatable.
You could have left it at "a Vikings offense that did nothing against the Eagles". Saying that they were ripped to shred against the Patriots was an overreach because you're comparing offenses then. Why not compare it to the Falcons game when the Eagles kept the 2016 NFL MVP to 10 points?
I can’t imagine Lions fans feeling good about this hire after seeing the Super Bowl, and there he had two weeks to,prepare, not the usual one week. And of course, he doesn’t have Bill to guide him.
Too many opinions being formed based on yesterday.

He (and Bill) dont get excused for the inexplicable benching of Butler... especially after the Eagles proved they could go up and down the field with ease on his backup(s). That's either incompetent gameplanning, senseless stubbornness after having been beat into you your plan didnt work, all of the above, etc.
And the response "Bellicheck knows more" is bullshit - yes this is monday morning QB'ing at its finest... they gave up 41 points and 600 and something yards without him. The End.

How is it any different than what the Vikings offense did in the NFC championship prior to use hiring Shurmur? And against the same defense that gave up numerous super bowl offensive records.
the first to make this obvious observation. Vikings offense was humming prior to the Eagles game. Just like the Pats defense was humming prior to the Super Bowl. Anyone who says otherwise is cherry picking facts to try and prove their own opinions instead of formulating an opinion based on the actual facts.

Valid point, but Shurmer had two big things going against him: road game and a journeyman qb. But I do somewhat agree with your comparison..they are pretty similar.
Hope he can overcome that start of his coaching career.
Not sure that's on the coaching staff.
Not sure that's on the coaching staff.
Eagles, all year, have gotten very good YAC........not fearing to throw short of the sticks.
Teams will take note of that in the offseason. Gotta tackle well to slow their offense.

so yea, we don't have to wonder what would have happened...

What's funny about you Mr. Nickels, you have made nasty negative posts all day. Guess your mama didn't love you.

This is BBI. Have you seen some of the stuff written here lately? Asinine doesn't even begin to describe it.
