Vikings & DeFillipo

@AdamSchefter: Vikings would like to talk with Eagles’ QB coach John DeFilippo about their OC job but cannot do so until 10 days until after Philadelphia’s season ends, which would be Feb. 14, per league source. Right now, Vikings appear willing to wait.

Have no clue when this became a rule. I thought you could talk to a coach as soon as the season was over. So the OC search might not be done this week.
Never heard of it either

Ridiculous. If true, will mean Giants will probably be waiting till then.
Does this have to do with his contract expiring?
robbieballs2003 : 2/6/2018 5:59 am : link
If so, couldn't they just request permission from the Eagles?

I'm not sure. I've never heard of that before.

I'm pretty sure this is correct - it's when his contract expires (that sliding timeline would especially suggest that).

Just said contracts end 10 days after the season. So that's why. I've just never heard of that before. Why wouldn't the Eagles give the guy permission?

If You’re Stefanski, that should be a clear sign to you. I know being the play caller is important, but it’s not like chances to be an OC come around often. Also makes you wonder if Shurmur’s offer to him is for QB coach and not OC.
Rule
BocaGiants91 : 2/6/2018 7:48 am : link
Usually teams would waive that if the coaches contact is expiring, so that they could get a job that’s considered s promotion if they weren’t wanted or coming back to their previous jobs, but as we know, Eagles are a scumbag organization and always will be no matter how many trophies they win.

Would have made sense for them to have given him permission to interview yesterday while they were still in Minnesota so DeFillipo could head back to Philly for the parade & close out of season!

like this makes me wonder if they didn't scuttle the Schwartz HC interview. No, they can't deny permission if it's a HC job but they can make it difficult. Like saying not this day or that because of team meetings or prep sessions or whatever and generally being a pain in the ass. At some point they know the other team will say forget it and move on.

Stafanski thread, regardless of the official rules, I'm sure the Vikings and DeFillipo know whether he's their next OC. I've got a bridge to sell you if you don't think they haven't been in contact.

Then why hasn't Stefanski either been made Vikings OC or taken the Giants post.

Presumably he's under contract to the Vikings and they are blocking him. Since Shurmur is waiting I assume he believes the Vikes will grant permission once they've officially hired an OC.

That would be my assumption as well.

Many feel the same about Bettcher..doesn’t mean it wasn’t the right hire.
I don't get it.

Minny knows everything the need to about Stefanski. If they thought he was IT why even bother with all the waiting? Therefore they think Dfip might be better. If I'm Stefanski I'm thinking I'm not IT let me go where I'm wanted.
I get due diligence, rules, etc but just seems a lot of chain jerking for nothing.
Only other thing may be a deal that if its Dflip KS stays as QB coach and gets Asst OC title, and a promise he's the man next time, and, he/family likes the Minny area vs. ERutherford.

The problem with this is that no young coach will ever work for Philly if this is true.

Correct. And I'm sure they may have given him a multi-year contract with the understanding they won't let him go anywhere for at least two years.

It looks like the Giants are Stefanski’s 2nd choice otherwise they would of hired him by now. It’s a promotion for him. Unless the Vikes are blocking his departure till they get their OC. This sucks!
