Stunner: Patriots’ OC Josh McDaniels has decided NOT to accept Colts’ HC job and will remain with New England, sources told ESPN.
BB retires next year as does Brady and Grownkoski
Pats turn shitty real quick like
McDaniels gets fired as HC after 2 years and has no option as HC in the NFL
I found this very interesting in regards to McDaniels last minute decision.
Belichick told McDaniels that he would spend more time with him on the inner workings of the Patriots, including roster construction and salary-cap management, which was viewed as "extremely valuable" to McDaniels.
I found what he did to be BS as others have articulated in regards to his selfishness regarding the coaches that were supposed to go work for him.
However, what I find interesting if this article is true, is that Belichick has a master plan for how the Patriots work that he does not completely share with others. It could be part of the reason that his assistants fail other places when they try to replicate his system. I think Belichick is on a whole other level of thought and finds assistant coaches that fill a skill set, like he does with his players. They each do the job that they are asked and collectively the sum is greater than the parts.
I do not think what Belichick has created can be replicated because part of the success of the system includes him and his brain. I think that despite being an ass and going about this all wrong, Mcdaniels realized that he needed to learn more about all aspects of Belichick's ways and maybe the best way to replicate his system is to continue with what he has put in place. Tuesday morning meeting with Bill Belichick convinced Josh McDaniels to change his mind - ( New Window )
He has done nothing to help his rep. I didn't think he would pull something like this though. I haven't followed his hiring like many here, but wasn't this in the works for a pretty long time? It's been unofficial for what seems like forever. He deserves all the shit that he's gonna get moving forward.
