games would be inexplicable.
pretty unbelievable last 5 days
Winning on the road against the number 1 team.
Nice to get a win in the Big East finally as well.
Too bad we didnt pull out the Xavier game. Couldíve beaten 6, 4, and 1 in a row
So many single digit losses, this team really deserves this. Proud of the coaches and players, never say die
Really proud of my alma mater.

Lots of Bad luck
No roster depth
The Lovett saga really did us in
ĎNova was short handed with 2 of our top 6 players out and a six man rotation. Still, at home you should be able to overcome that and win.. Johnnies came to play and gutted it out. Congratulations to St. Johnís.i

They lost a game at Georgetown in which they were up 5 with 24 seconds left in overtime. I turned the channel thinking the game was over. When I turned back, they were in double OT.
to be ranked #1 on Monday. They have Game Day coming to Charlottesville for our match-up against Virginia Tech who would love to play spoiler.
Getting that #1 ranking would be awesome for the program. Not only would they have gone from NR in the preseason to #1, but it would be the first time they were ranked #1 since 1982.
Don't think they've been closer to us than 15 points in at least 5 years. Take care of business against those jokers and we will be #1....never ever thought I'd see that.
Thanks again Johnnies for knocking off Duke and Nova!
Youíll be there until you lose. But you actually donít want to be there when the tournament starts. #1 rarely wins the Natty!
Anyway, enjoy it while it lastsí. I respect your program and coach and root for you any time you arenít playing ĎNova.
Great night of basketball
but just reaching that peak is a great thing for any program who hasn't been there in a long time. Tony and the program can hang their hats on it. It's just another talking point / feather in the cap.
#1 also comes with extra name recognition and coverage and that can help with recruiting (I hope).
Holtmann is coach of the year
