#Clippers and #Cavs spent last night engaged in serious trade talks revolving DeAndre Jordan, per league source. Should a deal get done however, Clips are insisting it include the #Nets pick (which Dan Gilbert doesn't want to surrender). I'm told only the Cavs pick is on table.

well of course there is.

Don't worry... we're going to trade Frank for 2 second rounders next year.

It's actually a pick swap. We give them Clippers second this year, we get Portlands second
even better. Just moving a little...

bit back in the second round
Mudiay's FG numbers have improved
djm : 2/8/2018 2:18 pm : link
so I guess I should take back my statement that he has regressed.

36% year 1
37% year 2
40% year 3

32% 3pt
31% 3pt
37% 3pt

Mudiay sttas - ( New Window )

has regressed if anything --he lost his starting job this season. Still, can't complain at all with this move. McDerment fucking sucked in my view. Not athletic. Decent shooter at times and decent size but he didn't use that size and his shooting was streaky at best. Limited player at best.

Getting a 21 year old guy who is athletic and might be helped with a change for a guy who you weren't bringing back is good.
at the very least
djm : 2/8/2018 2:20 pm : link
Mudiay gives me a reason to watch.
McBuckets didn't suck at all
Keith : 2/8/2018 2:21 pm : link
and he's actually pretty athletic.
assuming jack and lee
Italianju : 2/8/2018 2:22 pm : link
are gone there should be plenty of minutes for Mudiay, Frank, and Burke. Both Mudiay and Frank can play some 2. Now if we still have Lee or Hornacek does hornacek stuff and plays Ron Baker then minutes could be tricky, but id give the kids a chance.

Mudiay is one of those guys that everyone said is Raw and will need a couple years to develop (like Frank) and then when he struggled the first couple seasons everyone says "HE SUCKS". I never get that, ha.
Baker
Keith : 2/8/2018 2:23 pm : link
is out for the year.
Hope we get a borderline all star
Carl in CT : 2/8/2018 2:24 pm : link
With one of the three young PGs.

The Knicks could have acquired Elfrid Payton, a Scott Perry favorite, but they would not include Frank Ntilikina in the deal with Orlando. Instead, they went after Mudiay.

Isn’t horrible, but he is not moving the needle for any of these playoff teams. Additionally no one wants to give up 2019 cap space. I have a feeling all of the big guys with opt outs this year will opt in. Making 2019 arguably the greatest free agent class ever. Sucks to be a knicks fan as usual, hopefully we get lucky and get a top 5 pick this year and then next year is all but gaursnteed a top 5 pick. This is the reason to hold on to Noah. After next year he will be an expiring deal. I have no idea how good the 2019 draftclass is but that pick could be our ticket for a sign and trade to bring in a second max deal. If you can sign Irving oh can then package lottery pick and Noah for a stud. Those 2 players plus zinger and this years pick plus year 3 or frank. Now we are taking about something that could be good.

2019’s draft class could be really good...Zion, RJ Barrett, Cameron Reddish, Manute Bol’s son
Can move Frank now
Carl in CT : 2/8/2018 2:31 pm : link
But it better be for a haul.
Courtney lee not being traded
nygiants16 : 2/8/2018 2:44 pm : link
Hopefully move him draft time or during free agency
Don’t know if this happens but if the raptors get Deandre Jordan
dpinzow : 2/8/2018 2:45 pm : link
for say, Valanciunas and picks, I think they win the east and can threaten GS or Houston in the finals
Would have liked to move Lee and Oquinn,
Keith : 2/8/2018 2:46 pm : link
but I understand that there is no need to trade Lee just to trade him. That being said, if we did trade Lee and Oquinn, the team would be so young that we'd probably have an average age younger than college teams.
I'd bet that CLE
Pep22 : 2/8/2018 2:53 pm : link
gets some released BIG i.e. Brook Lopez after the deadline

and I think they did plenty today to put them back in the driver's seat of the conference
Elfrid Payton
Pep22 : 2/8/2018 2:57 pm : link
to Suns for their # 2 pick in 2018
we could have offered
Enzo : 2/8/2018 2:59 pm : link
the Bulls #2 for Payton. I guess they preferred Mudiay (and the extra year of control).

Wait, you didn't even want him to be drafted. Why should he be worth a haul now?
the fact that KOQ is still here..
Italianju : 2/8/2018 3:02 pm : link
makes no sense. That said if guys like Evans and Payton are only returning seconds then maybe we couldnt even get that for KOQ.
Why?
Carl in CT : 2/8/2018 3:02 pm : link
Cause I wanted DSJ or Mitchell over him? Still do. But he is young and controlled so he is worth something.

really hope we release...
Italianju : 2/8/2018 3:03 pm : link
KOQ and Jack. Nothing against them but i want to see the kids play. I guess if you keep KOQ i wont care since i dont care about Kornet or Hicks, lol.
so for our youth movement for this deadline..
Italianju : 2/8/2018 3:06 pm : link
we traded a 26 and 23 year old for a 21 year old. I mean we did get younger i guess.

Well the 26 year old they probably felt was not here for the long haul...

My hope though is hornacek benches jack, no reason for him to play now...

You have a 19 year old point, 21 year old point and 23 year old point
Hornaceck

What does not enough for Kyle O'Quinn exactly equate too?
If things pan out, that's
Metnut : 2/8/2018 3:22 pm : link
a hell of an athletic young back court for Knicks.
If there wasn’t much of a market for KOQ
Dave on the UWS : 2/8/2018 3:23 pm : link
now how much will there be this summer. He might be resignable to a cap friendly deal. He’s a good backup and still pretty young. Lee’s age works against him and Jack has no trade value. I would like to know more about the Hernangomez situation. Smells more like a non basketball deal to me. They have him as a core guy in the off season. Then he’s out of the rotation after camp citing defensive effort and hustle but still saying he would get his chance that he had to work hard. Fast forward 4 months and he’s shipped to a dead end situation with reports he didn’t “get the message” wouldn’t got to the D league to work on his game. How much of this is true how much BS?
I think the Knicks feel like they have enough picks,
Keith : 2/8/2018 3:24 pm : link
they wanted young players in return. I can understand why they don't want too many picks because of the new NBA rule where you can no longer package picks together to move up in the round.
time to cut Jack
Enzo : 2/8/2018 3:25 pm : link
and let him latch on with a contender. Or just go away. Too many guards. I can't kill them for not moving Lee - there were cheaper wings on the market. But I figured they could at least get a decent #2 for KOQ.
Good question, Pete.
bceagle05 : 2/8/2018 3:28 pm : link
Sounds like they were gonna trade Willy or KOQ - I guess they traded Willy because he got them two second rounders instead of one? That’s ridiculous. You keep the younger guywho’s locked in at a cheap rate. Now they’ll lose KOQ for nothing this summer.
Mudiay and Ntilikina
Dave on the UWS : 2/8/2018 3:30 pm : link
Together in the backcourt. I like the idea let’s see if dumb ass Hornacek actually does rhis. If Jack gets any significant minutes Perry should can his ass. Take these two, Burke and THJ and you’ve got 4 young guys to develop into a good backcourt. That HAS to be the team’s focus the rest of this year. Then draft a Big Time 3 and figure out what to do with Kanter.
Memphis couldn’t get
ajr2456 : 2/8/2018 3:34 pm : link
Two seconds for Tyreke Evans. Knicks got that for Hernangomez. Weird market.
Hernangomez
Keith : 2/8/2018 3:41 pm : link
is a low cost 23 years old with potential that makes nothing. Evans is a 28 year old rental. Apples and Oranges.
Jack can not be playing
nygiants16 : 2/8/2018 3:42 pm : link
I hope Perry and mills have this sit down after mudiay arrives
Jack served his purpose on the Knicks.
Keith : 2/8/2018 3:44 pm : link
He could help a contender. I'd release him and let him latch on somewhere else.
zero excuse to not...
Italianju : 2/8/2018 3:48 pm : link
cut Jack. I get keeping KOQ since we have very little front court depth at this point. Although there will be some more players that shake loose that could be worth a look. Not the vets that get cut and look to go to a contender, but the players that those contenders cut. haha
Does Mudiay play Sunday whrn we face the Pacers?

This isn't true. Reports were multiple teams offered 2 second round picks. No team wanted to give up a 1st.

The problem with Lee was his age and length of contract. The Sixers would have been a good match with all their extra picks but they weren't taking the long term money on.

I'm surprised the Thunder didn't make a move for Bradley. He was a perfect 5th guy for them.
