#Clippers and #Cavs spent last night engaged in serious trade talks revolving DeAndre Jordan, per league source. Should a deal get done however, Clips are insisting it include the #Nets pick (which Dan Gilbert doesn't want to surrender). I'm told only the Cavs pick is on table.
The combo of all this (most notably every season of KPs career thru next season will be seasons with records 20+ games < 0.500) increases the likelihood he makes a $ sacrifice to bolt when FA comes up.
Perry said the trade "was all about the draft picks" Someone needs to tell him he can use Dolan's $$$ to buy #2's instead of giving away a 23 year old w/potential when, because of the coach, his trade value was extremely low. He also said they'll be playing the younger kids to "move toward the future". When did 23 become old?
If Perry is able to secure more #2's,I'm sure we'll be able to move some vets today. SMH
While Lee is a competent player, he is overpaid. And with Willie gone, and KP down, I'd assume O'Quinn is here for the balance of the year.
Somehow, the front office has to dictate to the Coach that developing young players is the number one goal (aka, lose as much as possible).
Great game last night, Butler vs Lebron was gold. Anyone pay attention to thomas last night late in the game? He looked frustrated as he just watched lebron play 1 on 5. Hes a terrible fit next to lebron.
They clearly also wanted to free up the roster spot. It seems to me that we have to consider the possibility that the organization has moved Kornet ahead of Willy, mainly because Kornet is a modern big man, while Willy is more of an old school big. Time will tell if the Knicks were right about that.

GMs buy #2's on draft night They gave Willy away at his lowest value(Thanks to Hornacek)!

Isiah is the problem with that team. They traded a top 10 player for a guy whos broken down and can't guard anyone in the NBA. He gets attacked every possession. And he's causing locker room problems. That trade is an all time steal for the Celtics.

Theyve tried to appease king lebron and he still left and left them in a brutal situation. They are smart not doing it again knowing ledouche is gonna go run to an easier situation.

And of course Gilbert loves him
Major upgrade for CLE, NYK tank job is helped and they save $$ by getting younger.

Thats a great idea and would definitely do it if I'm both teams. However Gilbert doesn't have the balls to admit his mistake that quickly. But Lee could really help that team.

Don't want IT He'd come to the Knicks looking to prove himself & help win enough games to screw the tank. Trades today should focus on moving vets & getting young players/draft picks in return!

Assuming the Knicks dont find a trade for Joakim Noah, opposing executives expect OKC and Minnesota to be among the teams interested in Noah if hes waived or bought out by the Knicks, per sources. As of earlier this week, Noah remained opposed to a buyout, sources say.

A note about the availability/value of second-round picks:
During the 2017 NBA draft, the following selections were sold for cash on draft day:
Pick No. 38
Pick No. 39
Pick No. 46
Pick No. 48
Pick No. 52
Two other picks were traded for cash and a future second-round pick.

trade him to CLE for IT (who is expiring and of no use to anyone), Zizic or Osman (whomever the NYK value more) + a # 2.

NYK could just cut IT. He is not an important piece of this deal for NYK.

Another #2? Look at what Dan just posted about them! Plus,if they got IT,they wouldn't cut him-Hornacek would be looking to win the NBA Championship! lol

In today's market, they got a decent haul. No one is trading first round picks. GMs are finally realizing they are worth holding on to.

People weren't gonna give us a #1 for Willy regardless of how much they played hi,. Not happening. And it seems clear the the Knicks have soured on the guy. Perhaps they were wrong to do so, but only time will tell if they made a mistake.

I agree that Isiah is one of the problems, but lets not act like its all on him. They had major problems when Isiah wasn't even back yet. He's just a bad fit with lebron. Also, I'll give him some time to get back. He doesn't look like he's in great shape and he isn't moving well at all. Def not ready to call it an all time steal, especially when they could have gotten the first pick in the draft.
The Knicks need to win no more than 2-4 games for the rest of the season to get into the top 5 of this draft. It is the only silver lining.
If the Lakers can't get a #1 for Randle, the Knicks aren't getting anything more than second rounders for ANYONE on their roster.

Totally different scenarios. Randle is about to get paid, Willy is dirt cheap, not analogous + the Lakers are inspired to move Randle, the Knicks were under no such pressure. Willy's value was going to go DOWN?

If they soured on him, they did so after they acquired Kanter. Willy was one of the poster boys in the off season for the future. I never said they'd get a #1 but by Hornacek not playing him,any value he had before the season (and as someone named to the rookie team, he had value) was non-existent.As Dan posted above,#2's are easy to get, easy to buy so Perry drooling over the fact he was able to get #2's in 2020,2021(to replace the 2 they traded for Willy) was asinine. Tonight, they're down to KOQ at center(if he isn't traded) & a 23 year old w/potential might have been nice to plat tonight & going forward!
Based on recent history, I think we might actually be better off lol. We will all be waiting for us to trade Lee, OQuinn, Jack and they'll end up trading Ntilikina for a future 2nd.
agree. Maybe KOQ gets sent out for a #2 simply because his deal should be easy to move. Other than that, everyone we're shopping makes too much money to be attractive. Unless they want to dump Beasley as well.
lol, Noah?

I'll say. I can't imagine a realistic Noah trade that I'd be happy about. If I were in charge, I'd put him on ice and deal with him again in the offseason. No buyout or waiver unless he saves the Knicks money.
Kornet????
Hahn - ( New Window )
The relationship between the player & management/coaching staff goes a long way in how a player responds. Hornacek, despite the calm demeanor he presents publicly, has had run ins w/players in the past. Not giving Willy a pass but he didn't strike me as a kid who would have a "sense of entitlement".There's certainly more to this story than has been reported & now that Willy's gone, this G-league refusal, sense of entitlement story surfaces! Timing is, at the very least, interesting!
