NFT: Isles score 4 goals on 1 power play (and win)

giantsfan227B : 2/9/2018 10:59 pm
Whether you like hockey or not (I love it) the Isles did something incredible this evening. They were awarded a 5 minute major power play late in the game against Detroit. At the time they were trailing 5-2. Not only did they score 3 in just under 3 minutes to tie the game, they scored a 4th to take the lead 6-5.

Of course the Isles being the Isles lost the lead a minute later to force the game to go into OT, where they won on a goal by Brock Nelson (3rd of the night).

Just an incredible game for Islander and hockey fans in general.
Its exciting

But they are the worst group of defenders possibly assembled on 1 team. They have a gm who only works during the draft and free agency day 1. They have a backup goalie that were he on any other team, would be off the team months ago. They had no problem vanashing Halak last yr who as still much better than Greiss. Just goes to show you, once you get into garths country club of best ruends, you’re here to stay for awhile
Yay?

Last I checked Snow still runs the team.
Elite center on the best contract in hockey for 9 years and they have nothing to show for it.
4/5 lottery picks were busts.

Chiarelli has done more for the islanders than Garth. (Eberle, Barzal, Beauvillier, Boychuk)

Now they stand to lose JT, Bailey, and Dehaan for nothing because shit dick won't sell.
Great game

glad to see the boys didn’t give up and were able to get a big win and feel good finally. Barzal is an elite talent. With him and JT, there’s no excuse for this team not to be in the playoffs.

The isles have major issues on defense but complaining about that for me can wait a few days.
This team is exciting, but maddening

The night before they were also down 3-0 to the Sabres before coming back to tie it, but then gave up the late goal to lose. They can score in buckets, but in their own get lazy and watch the puck. That seems more effort related than scheme or talent.

The goalie problem has been an anchor around this team's neck for years. Greiss has been abysmal this year and Halak mostly just hovers around mediocre.

Barzal looks like he has the makings of a superstar.
