in the 8mil a year range, anything more than that would be less than ideal.
He's getting more than that for sure, closer to 12m/yr than 8m/yr. Outside shot he signs a prove it deal, but why would he do that here vs. signing on a team with a more stable OL? Maybe an incentive laden deal if he gets "x" amount of starts at Tackle, the only scenario I see the Giants getting him for something reasonable that wouldn't represent a huge risk.
Pugh think we need to sign him cause we can’t go into free agency with really no one signed can we think it would be pretty hard to get 5 guys that are good to play the line and I think it’s worth a shot .... can’t look at his past injury’s hell we have signed guys that have never been hurt and come here and get hurt so

Can't look at his past injuries? You can't ignore them either. If the Giants are considering signing him just to fill a spot on the OL, then we are already losing.
So if Dave is content in filling a spot, then he should structure it with incentives and game bonuses. No signing bonus - he already stole $8M last year before he pulled up lame with a bitch back. Yearly salary is veteran minimum - he should be fortunate that he has a job and is permitted to wear the Blue. Per Game Bonus of $500K, if he plays in 16 games, then he can earn $8M. $1M bonus if he is named to the Pro-Bowl - no replacement for an alternate of a Pro-Bowler either.
If he doesn't accept, then he can crawl back to Conshy.
the contract better be loaded with incentive requirements to get anywhere near what he wants.
And we better have a decent but cheap backup on a showme contract for the 4+ games hes liable to miss.
A position allocated value eaten up for 2 players.
I am as big of a Wheeler fan as anybody here but the Giants can't go into next season without a legitimate other option at LT. I am hoping for a draft pick, preferably in rounds 2-4, and an inexpensive veteran like Ty Nsekhe as insurance. Isaiah Wynn in round 2 would be the ideal pick at guard who can also play LT in a pinch plus a guy like Alex Cappa in the 3rd or 4th round. They should move on from Pugh and spend that money elswhere.
LT Wheeler/Cappa/Nsekhe
LG Wynn
C Sullivan/Jones
RG Zach Fulton/Fluker
RT Flowers/Hubbard
That's a decent start IMO
That can play at a high level at LT, LG, RG and RT like Pugh can. He is versatile and he has the ability. Availability is the biggest concern and I bet it will affect the kind of deal he gets.
But anyways lock him up. Bring in Norwell. Draft a guy in the first four rounds and that’s a start to fixing this OL.

If he plays at such a "high level", how is it that he's been overlooked from not making the Pro-Bowl? Certainly, he should have mustered consideration as a replacement for an alternate to a pro-bowler in his 5 years. When should the NFL world expect his greatness?
..at best. The Giants would be truly stupid to give this guy a deal at all.
Being the best OL guy on a team who has XFL players all over the OL is nothing to brag about. Pugh is grossly overrated, and a low character guy who ca chooses not to play.

A rare post without a single fact. Low character? Where did you come up with this nonsense?

Quit on the the team - a guy goes into contract year, a continues to miss PT year after year. At some point you have to question the guy's ticker, but I know you aren't smart enough to put that together. The only single fact is that you are giving Pugh a pass, because you are too dumb to know any better.
and very versatile guy to have in your bag. Leave that decision to DG who is considered to be excellent at OL talent evaluation. DG wants to win as much as any of us here..

When did he quit on his team? It is easy to throw accusations around without any proof. I am smart enough to trust facts over ridiculous speculation. Don't let facts get in the way of your agenda.
I think He’s a good to very good guard who is never healthy. I can see how people can disagree on that. But no one sane thinks he can be relied upon for 16. Games. He’s never healthy. No thanks unless the contract is w huge incentives for actual games played

When Pugh was first starting out with the Giants, this person claimed that Pugh was a completely clean player and had not and would not do steroids. This person said based on that, Pugh had a limited future and that most of the NFL players were on steroids. He said that the players are given enough advance notice to clean up to pass the test and those that get caught are the ones too addicted to steroids. Look at the before and after photos of Snee and come to your own conclusions.
It was nothing more than ESPN expressing an opinion. No mention in it on DG's or PS's opinions. As with many BBIer, I'm a big Justin P. fan, but with his injury history I don't believe the team should give him the big payday or get in a bidding war for his service. As much cap space as the Giants have, there are 20 teams with more, plus they still have to figure out how to extend OBJ and Collins.

There is absolutely no way Flowers plays LT. And the same goes for Wheeler. DG is not a stupid man.

Absolutely.
I think He’s a good to very good guard who is never healthy. I can see how people can disagree on that. But no one sane thinks he can be relied upon for 16. Games. He’s never healthy. No thanks unless the contract is w huge incentives for actual games played

agreed
Flowers/Wheeler, Norwell, Jones, Hernandez, Fleming is a much better line than we have had here in 5 years.
I'd rather keep panning for gold among undrafted rookies until a free agent that has a shot of earning his contract comes onto market.
I agree.
Also need some level of starting material to show up at OTAs and he would be where I would spend some money...
