Is Sean Ryan a possibility?

robbieballs2003 : 2/11/2018 9:29 pm
I know, I know. Another OC thread. But I was just looking up potential candidates and I haven't really seen his name pop up. I thought he was interesting considering his ties to the organization even if he doesn't have ties to Shurmur.

I like Sean Ryan but No! He should have gotten Beckham under control

During the Panthers game and didn’t. That incident exposed Coughlin and cost him his job, in my opinion. And McAdoo never should have gotten the HC job because he didn’t step up to control Beckham either.

Someday, Ryan will be back here if Beckham leaves. Beckham is turning into a coach killer.
Coughlin was in trouble already.

To blame Beckham and Ryan would be to ignore much bigger issues.

Losing games got Coughlin canned.

Reese's failures in the draft got Coughlin canned.

Just curious

Shurmur will design the offense and call the plays. What will the OC do?

Lol i was about to post a wise ass answer too but decided against it...

Game planning man...what do you think every OC in the league does each an every week...or do you think they only clock in and out on game day?

Seriously though.. My assumption of the offensive coordinators duties even if he isnt a play caller is things like..

Breaking down the opposing defenses scheme and tendencies.

Working with the HC in developing the game plan for the upcoming opponent.

making sure the offensive staff comprehends the offense.

working with all other other offensive coaches ( RB. WR, TE etc) to make sure everyone is on the same page.

going over film, particularly what works, what didnt work etc etc

Most OC's even if they dont call plays work with the QB's

Id assume things like that..

There are a host of HC who call their own plays.

Sean Payton, Andy Reid, Doug Pederson, Sean McVay, Mike McCarthy, Jay Gruden, Bill O Brien, Kyle Shanahan.. all HC.. all call their own plays..

Actually you did post a wise ass answer. You actually think Shurmur wont be doing the game planning MAN? Thats what every OC does MAN?
Would be a decent choice

The same Sean Ryan whose tenure as QB coach...
Big Blue Blogger : 2/12/2018 4:08 pm : link
...coincided with Eli's implosion, after which he was demoted, and subsequently fired?

The same Sean Ryan who jumped to the NYG staff from coaching the Harvard JV on the strength of his BC and Columbia connections?

Ryan has never been responsible for an offense at any level unless you count Ivy League junior varsity. He didn't even play offense at Hamilton, which isn't exactly a powerhouse. (I know - Belichick, Wesleyan, lacrosse, blah blah blah.)

What exactly makes anyone think Ryan is qualified for this job, or that the Giants would consider him?
regardless

Texans announced their 2018 coaching staff today. Ryan was on it. I don't know whether they would let him go if we had interest but I also don't see any sign we have had interest. And like Blogger says, it wasn't exactly a great season with Ryan as QB coach here.
