Not sure if this has been posted already, I'm seeing it for the first time (although parts seem familiar).
Some choice quotes (full article linked below)...
"I wanted to win more," said Rosen, who was 6-5 in the games he did start last year. “To be honest, I really didn't accomplish a lot of the goals that I set out to do, which was really frustrating. All of the individual stuff kind of comes along with team success." |
Rosen, who turns 21 on Saturday, admits he spent last weekend "a little bit in work mode kind of" when meeting with the wide range of NFL influencers that attend Super Bowl-related events. "I had a suit on and was trying to be very politically correct and put together," Rosen said. "I talked to a lot of different people about a lot of different things; a lot about football and some that had nothing to do with football. And then a lot about how to conduct myself on the field, off the field. |
Asked what he believes is the biggest question NFL teams have about his makeup as a person, Rosen said, "There’s been some people talking about my love for the game or whatever, whether it’s my main interest. I'm just really excited to get in front of them and show them who I really am and, once they draft me, show them exactly how hard I do work." |
"You don’t have any other distractions (in the NFL)," said Rosen, an economics major who received honorable mention on the 2017 Pac 12 All-Academic football team. "You don’t have school, you don’t have all that stuff. You have an agent and a money manager where you can basically deflect everything that can possibly get into your head. You can just focus on football. That’s what I've never been able to do before. I'm really excited to put all of my time into that." |

He sounds like he's working too hard to reassure folks.
Not sure about no other distractions...Agreed
I'm apt to pay more attention to what a guy says when he isn't ttrying to get a $25M payday. That's the real guy you're getting. But good for him for trying.
Regardless, I am nearly convinced the Giants will have their pick of QBs at #2 if they don't trade the pick. I think Cleveland will take Barkley or Chubb at #1 (probably Chubb) and with the idea that they can grab one of the top 4 QBs at #4--probably Mayfield.
I really, really hope the Giants don't draft him. I want Barkley, but could live with Darnold or a trade down.
This kid scares me.
Injuries are a major concern. He doesn't seem like a 10 year player health wise. I hope Cleveland takes him out of our equation. The talent is there but I don't see the long term qb here concussions these days are career enders.
What kind of headline is that?
How is this anything but a humanizing story?
"Rosen paid homage to both on Instagram by posting a photo of himself wearing an Eagles jacket and cap at age 14. The caption read that Rosen’s grandma “said she would die if the Eagles ever got back to the Super Bowl and got revenge" for losing to New England in Super Bowl 39.
"I just gave her a call, relieved to hear her voice," Rosen wrote earlier this week.
And this part.
"While attending Super Bowl 52 pregame festivities in Minneapolis, Rosen had the chance to meet Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie.
"I kind of just geeked out a little bit," a laughing Rosen told co-host Gil Brandt and me Wednesday night on SiriusXM NFL Radio. "I was like, 'Hey, my grandma’s the world’s largest Eagles fan. I grew up watching you guys. And it’s just so cool to meet you.'"
Somehow this is crafted into some kind of negative with Sporting News headline?

Where do you get "more comcerned about money" from that piece? He said he wants to hire a guy to manage his money do he can do nothing but concentrate on football.
This is a plus. Not a negative despite Sporting News attempt to make into one. But they see him as "too smart for his good". Whatever that means
Id like someone to name a single football player in NFL history whose problem was they were "too smart"
He sounds like he's working too hard to reassure folks.
You guys are digging and reaching really hard.
Maybe they should undergo a DNA test.
I can agree with that. I think he has the potential to be special, he just has to reel in a little bit.
Where do some of you come up with this bullshit? He never used distractions as an excuse, but was excited to be able to become a better player when he can focus solely on that. NBA rookie Donovan Mitchell said pretty much the same thing about becoming a much better player while in the NBA, no classes means you have more time to work out, practice and prepare.
And when did he say he was looking forward to making money? I'm sorry, but a lot of the "he doesn't love the game", or "he doesn't need the game", or "he's only in it for the money" reeks of anti-semitism.
Drew Brees' dad is pretty wealthy, did anyone question his desire? Or Russel Wilson? It is one thing to question the concussions at the end of the season, those are legitimate concerns, but the fact that he grew up in a well-to-do family is utter bullshit.
Definitely one of those three.
Or they could be nothing alike. Cutler had the same issues at Purdue. A 57% passer who struggled with accuracy and turned the ball over too much. Rosen is more accurate, and more careful with the ball.

Josh Rosen = Jay Cutler. I mean... They could be clones in everything from body type, to attitude, to injuries and talent.

Weird, I could have sworn Cutler went to Vanderbilt.

Good catch, I must have been thinking Purdue when I referenced Brees in an earlier post.
+1

Or the character stuff isn't true and he wants to set the record straight. Some of you are going to pull a muscle reaching.
Anti-Rosenites? What does that mean?
Quote:
the Giants pass on Rosen, and the Jets end up taking him, just to stick it to these anti-Rosenites for a decade or so.
Anti-Rosenites? What does that mean?
Oh I got that, but you don't arrive at the current footwork, throwing mechanics, and ability to move safeties with your eyes that we see from Rosen at just 21 years old without working your ass off, day in, and day out. Cutler never had that passion to be the best and it reflected in his mechanics, footwork, etc.
