NFT: Is this a good 4K TV?

LawrenceTaylor56 : 2/13/2018 4:06 pm
So I'm not much of an expert when it comes to the latest and greatest TVs. But I have been waiting for 4KTvs to drop in price a little bit, seeing how there isn't much content for it yet. I do have a PS4 Pro.

Browsing through Costco yesterday, I saw this TV. It's only $340 bucks. It's a TCL? I don't need a top of the line Samsung as of right now. But even at this low price point, should I just hold out and get something better?

TCL is a more unknown but quality brand...I just bought a 55" TCL television (delivered this morning, haven't set up yet)...unfortunately not at Costco...55P607...the P level is better than the S level...

check the ratings...CNET and rtings.com...

Good is a subjective thing when it comes to tech..

but with a quick read, it checks a few boxes such as HDR10 support which i’m really enjoying with my Xbox One X.

For the price, it might be just what your looking for with that PS4Pro. The next advancement in tvs are going to be higher refresh rates @ 4K/HDR, which the game consoles now aren’t going to be able to do.
I bought this tv

and what you will likely need it for. I'd rather go a couple hundred more to get into the Samsung's of the world, but that's just me.
the built in Roku is nice

probably gives you more options for add-on apps without having to buy a device/dongle.
The negative reviews I've seen for this model

are mostly around issues with the built in wi-fi enabled apps. If you've got your own cable / Apple TV / firestick / Xbox or PS, seems it should be a pretty good value buy.
I purchased this for my parents during Christmas

And my tech-knowledgeable cousin says it's a great buy. Go for it!
It's a decent TV..

When you take into account you paid $340....it is a great TV. I have a similar SHARP TV with ROKU. The ROKU interface is excellent and the picture is good. Black and greys sometimes look crappy. But I paid $250 and could care less.

Thanks everyone. I think this article sold me. I'm gonna pick it up tomorrow.
The p series is definitely better

But $340 is good for an average watcher. Not a home theater centerpiece or anything, but TCL is decent. Sounds better than the other cheap brands in my eyes.
I say get it.
