It must be fun

to be able to throw a football like an NFL QB. As a kid I had a good arm throwing a baseball and I could actually pitch a bit. I was never taught how to throw a football so I never got any good with it.
If he's not successful it won't be from

lack oh working hard. And he has a great attitude.
Webb looks the part on the practice field and

works very hard.

No idea if he can play when the bullets start flying, so to speak
Don't under rate the fact Webb & Engram are working out together
DavidinBMNY : 2/21/2018 9:18 pm : link
These guys came in as rookies together and have a strong bond. Last year they worked together as well.

I am pleasantly surprised to see them working out together at this time of the off-season. It shows that bond is still in place and they very easily could have choosen to work out, but do it as indivduals. There is always some one to throw or some one to catch a football.

It also means they are both around the facility. Neither one went home for a prolonged period of time. Let's not discount Engram's work ethic here either.

It's hard to read into this very much, and I know I'm pushing it, but with the awful culture in the locker room, players who exhibit this approach are exactly what we need.

I'm more excited by those snippets them anything else in the offseason except getting a new special teams coach and a DC who likes to blitz.

Nice that he's working with Engram...

to get the timing throws down.
Looks like he has good touch -

and ball placement. Lets see him do it in a game with hungry defenders breathing down his neck.
Webb is an easy guy to root for

Couldn't have handled the Eli situation any better. Great attitude. Great work ethic.

Best case scenario he develops along with the #2 pick and gives us our ROI in a trade.

Actually, I believe the best case scenario is that they have confidence enough in him that they don't need to spend the #2 pick on a QB.

Yup.

Best case scenario would be taking the best non-QB on the board @ 2 and having Eli under center for another year to eventually give way to Webb as the future.
This type of social media...

should explain a little bit why many fans are disappointed to see Giants players posting all their social lives on social media. I get that they have a social life - I want them to have one. But it's just so much BETTER as a fan to just focus on the hard work their putting in. My favorite type of social media is always the stuff where Giants players are putting in their own time working out.

cool Davis - ( New Window )

The ball is a little late on that throw. No pads, no pressure. The ball should be there when Engram turns.
Someone should tell Davis that calling Engram

out of the controversy altogether didnt stick his oar in for or against it

the biggest question for me was if your going to break eli's starting streak why do it for geno? if you want to see webb in a live game game situation with the number 2 pick looming that would make sense before you go out and draft another QB see what you have in webb first but not for geno he is a backup at best and we knew that before that start anyway

shurmur will use more double TE sets so engram will be the move TE in that offence ,he should have been already but mac was too hopeless to implement, with ellison and adams the inline TE which will help the blocking immensely

thats why i want either barkely or chubb upgrade the running game give them another weapon that scares people on offence or a passrusher to fear on defence with the running game he had in Minnesota he will want a better running game so i think shurmur wants barkley too will open up the coverage on OBJ too if defences need to pull safeties out of coverage to stop barkley thats a win win

if cleveland does something crazy like take barkley at 1 (assuming the dont sign cousins in free agency first)then you go with chubb instead or trade back a spot or two and take chubb anyway and use the pick(s) you gain to upgrade the OL and add an outside WR they desperately need

if cleveland passes on a QB at 1 you know the big offers will come in for that number 2 pick from one of the half dozen teams desperate for a QB i personally dont like any of the big 4 enough to spend a number 2 pick on them but other teams will be ready to risk it
Rooting for Webb
Pepe LePugh : 2/22/2018 10:24 am : link
but hardly looks like pinpoint accuracy to me. First two were a bit behind the rcvr. EE had to reach up and slightly back to make the catch, instead of putting the ball in front of him so he can run into the catch. The third throw also had the Engram adjust or the ball would have been behind him again. For throw and catch, fine, but those high throws behind the receiver invite INT in game conditions.

lol well yea.. I meant in the scenario we draft a QB at 2.
I really like Webb...
BamaBlue : 2/22/2018 12:24 pm : link
and he is obviously contentious and a hard worker. He reminds me (a lot) of another hard-working Giants QB named Danny Kanell.

Kanell was a great kid and a very hard worker. He got his shot and had legitimate NFL skills, but not NFL starting QB skills. It's still too early to slap that label on Webb, but indications are that he was not NFL ready last season. I have to believe that if the Giants staff believed he could get into a game, he would have played in the regular season.
I have no idea where this kid's future will take him,
Ira : 2/22/2018 12:33 pm : link
but I'm starting to wonder if I was wrong about last year's third round pick being a waste.
This is why

The CBA sucks. I bet Webb would be thrilled to be at the facility daily working with Shurmer. Learning the system and showcasing what he can do. But the CBA allows players to basically do nothing for 3-4 months after a season and have minimal football activity from January until late July except for 10 OTAS and a minicamp.
