Wynn, Bromley unlikely to return

With the changes on defense itís unlikely defensive tackle Jay Bromley and end Kerry Wynn return. Wynn is better suited to play in a 4-3 defense and Bromley is looking for a fresh start and potentially bigger role. He was a rotational player behind Damon Harrison and rookie Dalvin Tomlinson last year.

I just met Jay Bromley

at a gym in Norwood, NJ. He's extremely nice, almost to the point of catching me off guard. I wasn't expecting him to return volley when I said hello...He Went out of his way to thank me for being a fan, etc...all I could say was "last year was rough dude--fresh start with the new regime good luck go out there and kill it"

Saw him again today...must be an underrated shitty thing to go through...young guy...doesn't know what the future holds. He's in the gym working his ass off I know that. Hope he lands somewhere.

Both guys had some promise, but they're fringe depth.

They're not terrible, but they're not that good, and they're very replaceable.

Wynn was an overachiever. Bromley just never seemed to get much better. Both seem to have low ceilings.

Fricking 3rd round pick that actually played every year he's been in the league. That's not a bust. Read more. Try.

Played? Never established himself as a starter. Played sporatically. Was easily beaten out by Tomlinson. If he were a fifth round pick, that would be one thing. But this was another Reese reach. No one had him going that high.
I remember

Screaming at the tv for Trai Turner that draft as do many of us. That pick was a huge head scratcher at the time and even more so now.

That being said Bromley can play and I actually thought 3-4 end might suit him.
How do you not root for Bromley?

From his Wiki page:

Bromley was born on May 28, 1992 in Jamaica, New York. His mother was addicted to crack and he was himself born with an addiction. His father, a pimp, beat one of his prostitutes after tying her to a radiator. She died, he was convicted of homicide, and sentenced to prison when Jay was just nine months old. Custody of Jay went to his aunt and uncle when he was four months old. He attended Flushing High School in Queens, New York, where he was named to the New York Post All-City First Team and was an all-borough selection following his senior season. He recorded 60 tackles and 12 sacks as a senior, while serving as team captain. He recorded over 40 sacks in his high school.

Bust? No. But at the same time he didn't come close to living up to expectations.
Wynn was damn good for a kid

Nobody ever heard of.

Been thinking it's time to put two units over the top, league wise, with early picks:

DT and TE...

In addition to 'up out of the bottom' (OL)
Bromley was overdrafted,
MOOPS : 3/6/2018 1:51 pm : link
should have been a fourth rounder. He never lived up to his third round selection. He's just okay.
By the third round it can be a crapshoot, especially with who we had judging talent. 20-20 hindsight you take Trai Turner.
His snap count says more about the lack of competition for the 3rd DT spot and Hankins injury in 2015.
That said, he could find a spot as a 3-4 DE.
Bromley was a victim

Of being overdrafted and misused. He flashed talent, and if he was selected after the 3rd round, nobody would have hated on him as much. I wish him and Wynn well, as both seemed to work hard and were nice guys. Just not THAT talented and better suited as depth.
Everyone knew Bromley was a terrible
TMS : 3/6/2018 2:28 pm : link
pick in the third round. That should be investigated. he made a lot of $$$ with very little NFL talent. Similar to Austin and Halsey. Think about it.

Bromley and I actually have a couple of mutual friends. Met him at my job in Queens, and to reiterate your point hes a VERY nice guy...loves playing for the hometown team and works his ass off.

Only difference is, Marvin Austin had a TON of talent coming out of UNC. Just couldnt get it together after getting suspended then making the NFL.

Sure seems that way. Some of the q/a sessions with the belcher (sp) have touched on the 3-4 switch and he definitely indicated a switch was coming. Also said aspects of the 3-4 bla bla... but it sure seems that a big change is coming here.
they are struggling
msh : 3/6/2018 5:44 pm : link
to fill the LB spots on a 4-3 right now they are way off
being able to fill enough spots on a 3-4 it also damages the value of tomlinson next to snacks on the 4 man front as well

it will take time to get beltcher the players to make that switch happen cant see it happening this year? without a move back and picking LB's back to back if they trade back

How was Bromley misused? He was a 3-tech coming out of college and that is how he was used with the Giants.

At the time the Giants' defensive line coach was Robert Nunn. He was quoted saying something to the effect of Bromley was very raw coming out of Syracuse. He was definitely drafted much sooner than expected; that isn't his fault.
