...underway...

Wheeler throwing easy gas.

Florial with a great first AB showing patience and a beautiful stroke.
D German

with two solid clean innings.

German looks very good
sorry Rasputin

great minds and all
Watching the MLB network feed, it’s the Mets announcers
mfsd : 3/7/2018 1:49 pm : link
They were comparing Florial’s swing to Bonds...but I think he looks a lot like Big Papi. Similar setup and trigger. Obviously he’s got some growing up to do as a player, but he looks like the real deal based on the eye test at this point.

And on another note, I know it’s spring training, but Reyes doesn’t look like he has the range for SS anymore
German had good stuff last year
adamg : 3/7/2018 1:49 pm : link
Hope he becomes the real deal. He could be a Severino lite.

I agree. Let's hope he is the imnotreally-Haitian Sensation by 2019.

He doesn't - it's Rosario's spot now. Reyes shouldn't be playing SS unless there's an emergency. His range is really bad.

Nice turn there, though.

Encouraging outing for Wheels.

A lot of the big NYY bats are out of the lineup today - but still good to see.

Yup, he’s still a player, no doubt...i just still think of him in his prime when he got to everything
Andujar
RasputinPrime : 3/7/2018 1:54 pm : link
is so scary he didn't see a fastball in his second AB. Gotta make those adjustments if you want to hang with the big club.

Praying he can stay healthy because I want to see a strong comeback year by Harvey and what your rotation can do. He has filthy stuff and such a repeatable delivery.

You and me both!
Man you guys are right about German
mfsd : 3/7/2018 2:04 pm : link
he's looking sharp, especially with his breaking stuff
German
RasputinPrime : 3/7/2018 2:06 pm : link
will get alot of looks this season. I'm happy with his idea about what he is going to do and his ability to command what he has.
I dont know about you guys
Bill2 : 3/7/2018 2:09 pm : link
but I have not seen Andujar look good at all against any breaking stuff.

Weather wins another battle
JoeMoney19 : 3/7/2018 2:12 pm : link
on a towering shallow fly ball from Bruce to Florial. Would've been nice to see German get to finish the inning but nice outing overall.

He has looked particularly bad today for sure. Not quite so bad the rest of the spring from what i've seen.

Florial drops a fly ball to score 2 runs and knock German out of the game.

It's because hesnot-Haitian.
I really don't like the cricket helmets
RasputinPrime : 3/7/2018 2:41 pm : link
and it seems Drury will be wearing one in addition to Stanton. Anyone else?
Tate is a talent too
arniefez : 3/7/2018 3:02 pm : link
the future looks bright.
he looks really raw and anxious though
RasputinPrime : 3/7/2018 3:04 pm : link
and the defense is having a rough day.
Bill2
arniefez : 3/7/2018 3:06 pm : link
You're correct. He's not ready. Torres isn't either but both are close. I think it's going to be Drury at 3B and Wade at 2B for April and maybe May if they both hit enough to hold the 8th and 9th spots.
.
arcarsenal : 3/7/2018 3:08 pm : link
Nice to see Gsellman have a strong outing today too.
agree
Bill2 : 3/7/2018 3:14 pm : link
arniefez

And while this is wild and early speculation, to me, Machado at 3rd mid year or next year now may make eveb more economic sense

Sell high and early on Andujar ( a free swinging, cant hit a major league curve ball yet and not great defense ...yet) and Frazier ( sub optimal swing and maybe over crowding in the OF especially if Florial is a year away) maybe in the back of Cashman's mind as options he has.

That all said, Id get another SP before anything else. As long as Wade and Drury are fine on defense they can be steady at the plate and we are fine for now

That's the best I've ever seen German look. We'll take it.

Damn. Wish the regular season would start already. Going to be an exciting year.

anyone know why not one of Judge, Stanton, Sanchez, Didi, Bird, Hicks, or Torres were in the lineup today? That's the entire offense..

No reason for those guys to take a 3 hr bus ride at this time of ST.
McKinney with a Grand Slam.

Only a few regulars made the trip because the team just made the cross-state bus trip for today's game. Most of the veterans are in Tampa for a workout.

The B squad is still racking up runs though.
Thanks, fellas.

moving McKinney to 1B. SWB will have quite the infield to start the season.

Man McKinney
Stu11 : 3/7/2018 4:30 pm : link
is murdering the ball this spring. Very interesting problem to have with him, Lind and Austin all being major league bats and there is a good chance 2 of hem won't be on the team that comes north. I know McKinney will most likely be sent down, but there are probably a bunch of major league teams he could make. Unless they just use him as a trade chip you'd have to think he has a place in the future in YS with that sweet lefty stroke. Even though Bird looked awesome in the post season, it will be interesting to see how long Boone goes with him if by chance he struggles in April and May.
Some numbskull in Florida disrupted my work from home while

watching the Yankees snow day by scheduling an afternoon call that took 90 minutes...but caught enough to see German looked strong before tiring a bit.

I agree with those saying above that Andujar and Torres are both proving they need more seasoning, despite having a ton of upside. As per usual the past few years, Cashman was a step ahead with the Drury trade
