#Seahawks CB Richard Sherman has told teammates goodbye over the past 24 hours, sources say, and that he won’t be on the team. Those close to him say nothing is set in stone and there has been no official word. But clearly bears watching.

he's got a big cap hit

with little dead money if cut, i'm guessing they are making room for a splash elsewhere.
Only 29

Doubt they have the space, particularly if they add Norwell, but I'd definitely inquire.
He's been pissed about that SB ever since it happened

But they've never followed through and dropped him. I'll believe it when I see it...

$13M cap hit with $11M in cap savings.

and now that he's decline SEA must think he's not worth the headache and cap hit.

I could see a team like the Jets throwing a boat load of money at him because they have a ton of cap space.
Depends what he's looking for

but I'd explore bringing him in.

If the Giants can't afford him, maybe cut DRC and bring in Sherman as a safety instead.

He's got good size, good ball skills, his coverage probably slipped a little (I assume), and he's a willing/good tackler.

He and Collins at safety with Jenkins and Apple (or other) at CB is a nice starting 4. Plus Sherman is obviously versatile enough if the Giants have another good safety, to slide in a slot corner.

Don't forget he ruptured his achilles. It's possible he may not be quite as good as he was before when he gets back.

I'd have to really be convinced that he still had the same burst to consider it.
Was never the most explosive, twitchy CB

no way

have no desire to see the giants get him, but as the gent above said, i am now convinced the eagles will pick him up for a bag of peanuts.
If he wants another ring,

If he's healthy with the achilles we should be dialing his agent...

Excellent in run support, btw.

They need a CB, Butler is a goner. General feeling is Solder is a goner also; they only have $13M, up to $30M with cuts cap space.
Sign RS, play BB trade game and get a better spot and grab a LT and let Scharnecchia work his magic?
