I was listening to Mayock on the Jim Rome show this afternoon and he mentioned an intriguing strategy for the Browns. I thought it was interesting and wondered what others think about possible strategy. Mayock offered the following:
#1 Barkley
#4 Nelson
With plenty of cap room, go after Nick Foles. Mayock thinks the Browns defense is pretty good and with the three additions above plus the rest of their draft they would be much, much improved.
Thoughts? I don't hate it.
To pay through the moon for Foles is more of a risk than drafting Darnold. Why spend the $$ like that if you don't really have to?

They already have Kiser, who really needs to sit and watch for another year. Two high rd QB picks provides little in the win column next year. A VET QB to mentor Kiser and get some wins would be big.
They would give up one of their second round picks for him
Then after they give him a big contact the Browns release him and the Eagles pick him up
The Browns should try and entice the Giants to make a deal and then take:
1 - Barkley
2 - preferred QB
they have plenty of extra picks to move from #4 to #2 and can probably do it while still retaining some picks in rds 2-3 this year.

I am a bit of a closet Kiser fan myself. He shows flashes...Needs to mature, but there is some interesting skills there...

With Hue Jackson’s connection signing AJ seems like a done deal.
Cleveland is going to sign the Cincy backup and draft a QB if they have a Brain.
Unless they think one of them can kick outside
I do see AJ McCarrons being signed since they tried to trade for him last year.

This is what, as I giants fan I want. I think it makes some sense for the Browns as well. They get the best player and their top QB pick.

Um, Foles does not suck. He was terrific in this last playoff run. He did have one really crappy year with the Rams but his career QBR is higher than Eli's. His 2013 year (under Shurmer btw) was extremely impressive. I am not trying to gush over the guy but to say he sucks...that's not right. He proved himself this year.
