Norwell, Ogletree, and ?

CMicks3110 : 3/7/2018 9:57 pm
who is the third major acquisition prior to the draft in your opinion?

Here are some options"

LB-Posluszny
LB-Bradham
OL-Pugh
RB-McKinnon
OL-Solder
DE-Wilkerson
RB-D. Lewis
C-Ryan Jensen
OG-Fluker
OG-Mewhort
OT-Fleming
LB-Bowman
OT-Hubbard
Ignoring the fact that Norwell isn't a guarantee,
j_rud : 3/7/2018 9:58 pm : link
Fluker would be a "major" signing?
I'd hope an OT
adamg : 3/7/2018 9:59 pm : link
I think that makes the most sense. A Hubbard or Fleming type.
I know Norwell isn't a guarantee, but
CMicks3110 : 3/7/2018 10:00 pm : link
i'm just having fun here. And I do think Fluker would be the last decent sized contract we'd hand out TBH, we don't have a ton of cap room, and I expect us to sign a lot of low-tier free agents for depth.

rasbutant : 3/7/2018 10:00 pm : link
No, I have no idea.

I have no interest in handing out decent money for Fluker.
Ten Ton Hammer : 3/7/2018 10:02 pm : link
He represented himself well here. Doesn't mean he should be paid like a starter.
McKinnon makes sense
j_rud : 3/7/2018 10:06 pm : link
Even with Ogletree I'd love to see Bradham or Tahir Whitehead.
Love to see us add Bradham
nyjuggernaut2 : 3/7/2018 10:08 pm : link
he was a tackling machine for Philly last season, and poaching good players away from divisional opponents is always an added bonus.
I'm not as excited about Norwell as some here, but
Ira : 3/7/2018 10:08 pm : link
assuming we do sign him and there's more cap room, I'd like to see Cockrell plus another corner signed.
Assuming we sign Norwell

I have been thinking Gettlemen would go hard after another OL so I will go with Fleming for RT.

With Jones tendered, if they get Norwell then Fleming, they would have 3/5 of the the O line in place. Between Wheeler and Flowers, one would man the LT spot. I AMF hope for Will Hernendez in Round 2.

So a line of Wheeler/Flowers, Norwell, Jones, Hernendez, Fleming is much improved. I am hoping for a LT prospect somewhere in rounds 3-5.
We traded for Ogletree...

But what’s the lure for a free agent to come to Jints Central with a QB deep on his back 9, and in the same division with the defending SB champs?

money
Trying to be realistic wish list
rasbutant : 3/7/2018 10:17 pm : link
Just some names that stick out.......

Slot Corner:
Aaron Colvin (26) – Physical slot CB allowed zero TDs in 2017. Has injury/suspension history.
or
Patrick Robinson (30) – Had career year as Eagles slot CB. 4 different teams in last 4 seasons.

CB/S Kenny Vaccaro (27) – Has been up and down, but safety/slot corner versatility will help him.

RB
Jerick McKinnon (25) – Poor man’s Alvin Kamara w/ arrow pointing up as in-space playmaker.
RB Jeremy Hill (25)

WR:
Donte Moncrief (24) – Underachiever battled shoulder, hamstring, ankle injuries past 2 years.
WR Brice Butler (28)

OLine:
Some interest at right price....Jack Mewhort (26) – Recurring knee injuries cost Colts best OG 17 games the past 2 seasons
Chris Hubbard (26) – Capable of playing all 5 OL positions. Steelers starting RT for most of ‘17.
D.J. Fluker (27) – Emerged as Giants starting RG before year-ending toe injury. Also plays RT.

EDGE:
Prove it deal....Trent Murphy (27) – 9 sacks in 2016. Missed all of 2017 with ACL/MCL tear, 4-game PEDs ban.
Depth Deal.....William Hayes (32) – Was Dolphins best all-around DE before year-ending hamstring surgery.

LB:
Anthony Hitchens (25) – Best in run defense. Made starts at MLB, WLB, and SLB with Dallas.
Devon Kennard (26)

Fluker

Probably won't need DJ after we draft Nelson
Assuming Norwell
AcesUp : 3/7/2018 10:24 pm : link
We'd be bargain hunting at that point. Probably resign Kennard short term and fairly cheap or older vet 3-4 OLB type. Cockrell or vet slot corner. Maybe a big play Mike Wallace type or cheap big perimeter target at WR like Jaron Brown. OL - either cap casualty aging LT or aging vet with positional C/G/T versatility. I think those big names are out the window, this is where DG would start to earn his money.
A quality LT
giantsFC : 3/7/2018 10:43 pm : link
Whomever that would be.
Assuming Norwell
WillVAB : 3/7/2018 11:23 pm : link
There won’t be much money left. Best bet would be cheap depth at LB/secondary.

This is false. The Giants will have plenty of money even after signing Norwell.
might need to be bradham
msh : 3/8/2018 4:55 am : link
unless they trade back they wont have many picks and they still need LB's to overhaul that group and guys who are starters that probably means a vet, bradham shouldnt be that expensive to sign either,i would also like them to try and get fluker who i thought was a good signing last year to return give them a bit of continuity along the OL as much as they can if they can have jones, fluker and flowers on the right side and add norwell plus draft another on the left side
McKinnon
Allen in CNJ : 3/8/2018 5:47 am : link
makes sense and I like Chris Hubbard
Allen Robinson or
KingBlue : 3/8/2018 6:14 am : link
Sammy Watkins or John Brown. WR is probably way down the list of needs, however if you can sign one of these guys on the cheap, it could pay dividends immediately. Draft focus, after the first pick, will be OL, LB, CB, DL.

I hear you bw, but when's the last time the NFC East Division Champ repeated? SB Champion or not?
I'd rather Solder than
section125 : 3/8/2018 9:03 am : link
Norwell and draft an OG with the #34 pick.

How much is left after you set aside money for the rookie class and the side pot for in season injuries?
Give me Hubbard
Jay on the Island : 3/8/2018 7:27 pm : link
He is solid at both G and RT and he is relatively young at 27. He would compete with Flowers or Wheeler for the RT job. If he loses he could move inside to RG.
