Kenard has been solid but overall meh for me, but I do think this new defense will suit him much better, so yes I'd like to bring him back. I don't think it's critical, but I do hope it happens
I wouldn't assume we're moving to a 3-4 base yet Â
If Kennard was the team's top LB in 2017, it's only because everyone else was on IR. He did very little, playing behind a pretty decent defensive line.
Kennard is a legitimate NFL player, and I'd like to have him back at marginal-starter money. Difference maker? Not from anything we've seen so far.
For much of anything... he’s been overrated since the day he was drafted. It’s been 1 excuse after another and he showed his true colors with the mystery game after the fireworks incident. Too bad his ridiculous contract limits options.

I think just before the fireworks incident he and his agents
really took on a shitty attitude in their contract negotiations with the Giants. they thought they were dictating surrender terms. Kept thinking of the Germans
in that railroad car in 1940 with the French. But I think
the Germans may have been more polite than JJP's agent.
You can count on one hand(and you won't use all your fingers), all the Huge Plays Kennard has made since he has been here.....
Cockrell is not a man on man CB....3 int's in garbage games....
Part of the problem is, Kennard has probably been our best LB, and he is not even average....his coverage skills were way over rated, and as a blitzing LBer, he would constantly be stopped cold by HB's....
I think he was a rare talent and played with reckless abandon his first few years. I think the league caught on to some of his weaknesses and along with some nagging injuries he just wasn't the same guy. He is still a load but his days being a top player are behind him IMO.
the addition of ogletree will help he will really help the coverage against TE's,nobody was saying he is harry carson or anything but we could do with him back the way the roster sits unless the price was too high think they could do with one of robinson or sheppard back too plus add a draft pick for an OLB/edge rusher type guy to give that new scheme a little more flexibility
they are weak at CB so getting cockrell back is a no brainer too particularly when you gave up a draft pick to get him i know it wasnt a high pick but unless the price prohibits it it would make sense

Agreed.

But please don’t think there is anything special in his game...
