Am I the only one that thinks this way?
I enjoy a good mock draft after the dust is settled after FA, but to me every mock draft prior is pretty pointless.
If you tell me the Giants must draft Nelson at #2, or trade down for Nelson and multiple picks all for the OL, it's a waste of time.
Of course things will change with free agency, everyone knows that. If we want to discuss the draft now(and fans do want to discuss it), then all we can do is speculate with what we know now.
Its why Dottino sounds like such an ass when he shits on callers (BBKL) that ask about draft scenarios before free agency. When the current situation changes, the questions will change too of course.
Nothing to get so upset about.
I enjoy the mock drafts because....
A.) I know they're just MOCK drafts
B.) It's interesting to see the varying opinions on certain players
C.) Am able to get a good idea of the top 100-150 players in the draft and check out the scouting reports.
so it doesn't bother me besides the Rosen is great, Rosen bad, Nelson is great, etc. threads.
all relies on your constant undivided attention, views, clicks, etc. We pay for their living.
Mocks being pointless are pointless
doesn't/shouldn't stop people from doing them if they want.
All mocks are pointless. All mocks are a fun distraction.
need something better to do. The "experts" doing mock drafts allow us simpletons to gauge where players will fall.

Even then, the "experts" are all over the board.

Nailed it YAJ
but there is a huge span of the off-season in which nothing happens and reading them keeps me excited about football.
I take no stock in them though.
clicked on and discussed components of the NFL...
Are useful for envisioning possibilities regardless of whether it is before or after FA. What I donít get itís the need for some to post theirs on this board to get some validation.
I'd rather read an articles where they rank the prospects after key events like Combine... Projecting players to team is a useless exercise..
Overall though I am more old-school where a team should draft the BPA, but take things like positional value into account.. and not draft based on need.. that takes you down the path JR went over the final 6-8 years..
are somewhat pointless but they are fun. What else would we do for 2 months before the draft?
a good laugh. I guess it makes people happy, so be it. Thank God those who do mocks are not the in the Giants organization!
I see guys projecting specific trades, and picks for all 7 rounds. It's beyond ridiculous. Very few mocks track accurately beyond the first three picks, and a lot of times they don't even get that right.
Everyone who covers football for a living has WAY too much time on their hands between the SB and the Draft.
Show me an overall VALUE board. But don't bother mocking it for me. Their guesses aren't any better than mine or anyone else's, and their penchant for mapping a team's "biggest need" (which they often assess differently than the team) is infantile.
