NGT: Dolphins CONSIDERING Cutting DT Ndamukong Suh

Saos1n : 3/8/2018 9:04 pm
Havenít done so, but possible...

Per Dianna Russini on Twitter
They would have $22mm in dead cap pre-June 1st cut

and only $9mm post June 1st, then they would be on the hook for $13mm in 2019
This year's free agent's

Seem to be a strong group. If guys like Mathieu and Suh are cut then it only gets stronger.
I gotta say

NFL contracts are a complete mess. Before free agency, the team owned the rights to the player and paid him market value. There would be hold outs and trades but player movement wasn't as common. It allowed a fan identify with his team.

It seems as there is no loyalty what so ever and the over the top contracts are either hamstringing a team from improving it they prevent a team for making a decision to move a player or cut him because of the guaranteed money paid.

The whole systems seems like a mess to me. Vets used to be valued now they are cut and put to the street. Rookies start earlier and the play is not great because of it.

Good points. The same is true in most sports. The upside is that a 3-13 team can improve quickly. It used to take years. I am old enough to remember both eras not sure which I like better. Although this year I like Free Agency!
Hated free agency

When it first began, especially when I saw the Giants lose special players from a special era; George Young didn't adapt real well to the system

Now I just accept it as part of the game, but I agree it has changed the dynamic of the NFL

I guess if given a choice I d go back to old system.

Or if they had home team discounts like the NBA where you can re-sign your own guys and only have a percentage count against the cap (I think this is still how the NBA operates).
Just like the Hayneswrth deal

this one was destined to end badly for the Dolphins...

+1. The Phins thought they were at the threshold of a championship and put out the big bucks to hopefully secure it. Instead they have a boat anchor contract.

Well, lets be fair - this statement is a load of crap.
I'd sign

I've been banging that drum for years.
