Wasn’t he tagged ?
Wow
Rflairr : 3/9/2018 4:28 pm : link
Trade market is crazy right now
Wonder which picks..
ryanmkeane : 3/9/2018 4:29 pm : link
have to think at the very least, a 3rd rounder is involved
This is big news
allstarjim : 3/9/2018 4:31 pm : link
Especially as it concerns the prospects of the Browns trading up from #4.

I would hazard to guess they are going to look for a veteran QB to start 2018 while a rookie QB sits. If Josh Gordon can actually keep his head on straight, then they will have a trio of Gordon, Landry, and Corey Coleman. That is a pretty formidable trio if they can all stay on the field.

Compensation for Landry I would guess would be one of their early 2nd rounders, as well as a 3rd-5th rounder, or a 2nd next year.
Not confirmed
bigfrank612 : 3/9/2018 4:32 pm : link
But I saw a pick in 2018 and one in 2019. I’d assume a 3rd for sure is one.
If a second is traded
TommytheElephant : 3/9/2018 4:33 pm : link
I think this directly impacts the Browns staying at 1 and 4 and not moving that 4 upto 2
Landry,
ryanmkeane : 3/9/2018 4:33 pm : link
Gordon, with Corey Coleman as a #3 option is a hell of a lot of talent at WR. With a QB on the way

About to sign Mccaron. Draft Barkely at one. Barkley, Landry, and Gordon. About as good as you can get
Browns
jvm52106 : 3/9/2018 4:34 pm : link
can make a big jump this season with the right moves in FA and the draft. This is significant for them.

That seems high for a guy at the end of his contract and who could become a FA in a year. But the Browns do have plenty of picks to spare
If I were a Browns fan

I'd actually be somewhat optimistic right now. They're gonna have some legit talent when the smoke clears in a couple of months.

In this scenario they likely go Barkley/X ... Whoever is highest rated at 4. QB, Nelson, Fitz, Chub

Now they have to hit on a qb. Whether it’s Mcarrens or a prospect (or both).
Big trade
Mr. Nickels : 3/9/2018 4:37 pm : link
So now the question is who will be the Browns QB? What picks did they give up? Without their extra 2 they won't be trading up..
According to Rapoport
Beer Man : 3/9/2018 4:39 pm : link
Landry wanted to go to the Browns. When was the last time a big name player said they wanted to go to the Browns?
Well, they certainly can afford him.
johnnyb : 3/9/2018 4:39 pm : link
Now who will the QB be?
It would be so
ryanmkeane : 3/9/2018 4:40 pm : link
Cleveland to make all these moves and then sign McCarron
I think the Browns will be more likely to get their #1 QB choice
SHO'NUFF : 3/9/2018 4:40 pm : link
now that they have a good receiver.
I think Barkley at #1 is a real possibility.
bceagle05 : 3/9/2018 4:40 pm : link
I'd have no problem with him in blue, but it would be great to have our pick of the QBs.
Landry
pjcas18 : 3/9/2018 4:40 pm : link
in 2017 caught 112 passes (many of them short) from a fresh out of retirement Jay Cutler, Matt Moore, and David Fales

pretty sure he'll catch passes with whoever is QB in Cleveland.

I would have liked to see the Giants get him, but Shepard, when healthy, is good enough in the slot.

My Browns fans friends keep telling me the team is still high on Kizer.
They're going to take Barkley

and sign McCarron. Probably take Allen at 4. Pretty decent team brewing over there.

yea i tend to agree, i think all they are missing on offense is the QB position. i think they should select him #1 overall and at 4 help the defense....
Yeah they're getting things together
bceagle05 : 3/9/2018 4:43 pm : link
right as the Ravens and Bengals start to fade. We'll see about Pittsburgh as been nears the finish line.

Landry, Coleman, Gordon, Njoku + Barkley, Allen and a vet QB would be pretty damn good.
*Ben nears the finish line.

why does McCarron's name keep popping up here

They have 2 GMs in the FO, $107M in cap space, and down to 20 picks this draft(;-)..but you get the point).
It'd be good for the NFL if Cleveland was relevant against , as well as the city .
30 years of dumpster living...finally a shot to be moving on up to the East Side.
Nice job by Dorsey
Peppers : 3/9/2018 4:47 pm : link
For the state Cleveland is in I think it's a great idea to trade draft picks for proven NFL players.

And it's good for Landry, getting paid was top priority.

This makes Cleveland more attractive to Cousins but I don't think it puts them in play.

This gives Miami assets to use if they want to trade up for a QB.
Supposedly Hue Jackson likes him
bceagle05 : 3/9/2018 4:48 pm : link
and they tried to acquire him last season. Not sure if the new regime is all that excited about him though.

he only folks suggesting the Browns trade up from 4 to 2 are Giants fans. Delusional. The Browns have three 2nd round picks.
I don't get why
ryanmkeane : 3/9/2018 4:50 pm : link
the Browns wouldn't go QB at #1 after making these moves. They run the risk of losing out on their guy which would make these moves seem silly
I know this isn't much, but for what it's worth -

ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport first reported that the Browns are sending two picks, one in 2018 and one in 2019 to Miami for the slot receiver, who recently signed his franchise tender.

it makes me think they want Barkley at one, sign a QB with some experience for this season and draft one of the QBs they like at 4 who will replace the temp guy. It would be slightly risky but it seems like a very Browns move to potentially lose your top QB because he got drafted at 2 or 3.

Yeah, it's only possible if they grade the QBs fairly evenly, or think the guy they want (if it's Allen or Mayfield) is sure to be there at four. Hopefully Barkley blows them away.
Miami to Cleveland

Sound like a QB at 1 or 4 ....
Beer Man : 3/9/2018 4:56 pm : link
With this coral of WRs you want a guy behind center that can the ball into the hands of the team's play makers.
Holy crap - no 1st or 2nd round picks in the deal

They still have KIser who will be sitting and learning as well. They get a VET QB to put fans in the seats and draft Barkley as part of their offensive attack. They could be quite fun to watch next year.

Don't you have to know what they gave up to determine that?

How is this a terrible move if the picks aren't that high? Landry is a great playmaker.
McCarron is a Journeyman
Samiam : 3/9/2018 4:59 pm : link
At best he’d be ok. Why would you upgrade at WR and have all these picks, coming off 1-31 over last 2 seasons and sign a JAG at the most important position in sports? And, why would you do that when you have the ability to get the top QB in the draft and voluntarily end up with the 2nd or 3rd best QB. People here act like it’s fantasy sports or Madden.
If Browns
ryanmkeane : 3/9/2018 4:59 pm : link
don't go QB at #1, they risk QBs going at 2 and 3 (via trade). It would be really dumb if they then had to just pick from whatever QB is left. Just take your guy!

(I also want Barkley as our pick so I'm biased...)

Incredible trade for the Browns
I think the debate
bceagle05 : 3/9/2018 5:02 pm : link
would have more to do with Barkley than it does the QBs. If he's just THAT much better than the other prospects (in their opinion), they know they have #4 in their back pockets.

I agree. It would be foolish to pass on the #1QB. They have done it before and you'd think they have learned a lesson.
A good back can be had at 33.

Agreed. Assuming the QB you want will be there at #4 is risky.
The Browns simply CANNOT pass on a QB at #1
Stan in LA : 3/9/2018 5:08 pm : link
Like they done in the past, especially if the 2 QB's selected ahead of them at #4 both turn out to be stars. The town would crucify them. They need to trade up to #2 to play it safe.

They probably read that, and that is what the Browns absolutely should say publicly. Privately though, I highly doubt it. He didn't really improve over the course of the season, he threw 22 INTs, 12 in the first 8 games and 10 in the last 8 games, and he went 0-15 as a starter. 52.8% passer in the first 8 games, 54.4% in the last 8 games. Just 52.4% in his last 3 games.

You can't count on a player that performed pretty bad all year, over 15 games, winning zero, to all of a sudden turn it around. They are going to draft a QB, AND probably bring in a veteran.
