Cleveland is loaded up with decent talent at the WR position
Just picked up a stop gap QB from Buffalo
Regardless who their #1 QB is, I'd be willing to bet dollars to doughnuts they have a guy they want.
The QB position is bar-none the most important position in all of football, probably all of sports. People here actually think Cleveland is going to risk losing what they feel is "their guy" to draft Barkley. I'm shocked at some of the comments here, I really am.
The real question is, what QB is Cleveland drafting with the 1st pick? Not are they drafting Barkley? If you believe anything else I have a bridge to sell you..
BTW, the Browns running game isn't that bad, if anything I think it can eventually be a strength on their team.. Absolutely NOTHING wrong with Isaiah Crowell
If they have Mayfield as their guy, they should get him at 1, why risk losing him.. That would be idiotic
Based on hype alone, he is sure-fire first ballot HOFer
Lots of people here think Barkley goes 1,

I think a fair amount on this board including me believe the Browns actions today make a clearer they will draft their franchise QB with the 1st overall pick.

But I bet a lot more don't think that's the case after today's Browns trades.
If you have a chance to select the top QB you select him at 1 so there is no concern what happens at picks 2 or 3.
Tyrod allows them to compete this season, take the best player in the draft at 1 and still get a real good QB prospect to develop at 4. I think they love the idea of having all that speed with Tyrod and Saquon in the same backfield. Having a RB like Barkley will also help whatever QB they take similar to how Zeke helped Dak as well.
Tyrod may be a stopgap but he did lead his team to the playoffs this year and really is the best QB Cleveland has had since......
The Browns' acquisition of Taylor suggests that they don't expect to be playing a rookie QB to start the season. There'd be no reason to do that with Rosen or Mayfield. The Browns are already lousy, might as well play the new kid, UNLESS he's not NFL-ready. That sounds like Allen for sure, maybe Darnold or Mayfield.

I'd say the likelihood of Barkley being selected at 1 went down. A "good" QB prospect at 4 isn't same as the top QB prospect that they need as their franchise QB of the future they can and likely will select at 1.
- If they only had one selection in the first round, it would not even be a question that they would be taking a QB
- If there were 1 or 2 potentially good QB's coming out in the same draft year, it would not even be a question that they would be taking a QB
But the fact remains, they are selecting #1 and #4 overall and unless they make a trade, they can have their cake and eat it too!!!!
QB at first overall pick? You could be getting the next Peyton Manning or John Elway or the next Jamarcus Russell (a can't miss prospect) or even a pedestrian Alex Smith.
I've heard "draft experts" say of Darnold, Rosen, Allen and Mayfield, 2 of 4 will pan out and 2 or 4 will be mediocre / busts. 50/50 chance.
I think there is a much higher chance than 50/50 chance that Barkley will be among the very top RBs in the league.
In history? Really?
I think the last two misses on Wentz and Watson easily eclipse the issue of not taking a RB...
More likely than not, that's all I'm saying. If they didn't have the 4th pick, I would consider it a toss-up, at best.
Eli Manning has a 52% winning percentage.
Eli Manning has a 52% winning percentage.
Et tu, Sy?
Pretty much everyone here thinks he goes #1, probably because he is
That wouldn’t be to smart on the browns part too much of a chance somebody trades with the Giants and colts and steals him ..... no way,if they covet Mayfield they would be smart to take him 1st and so far they’re GM has done everything right and then he’s going to get a brainfart no no no......
In all seriousness, any other legit franchise will have their guy at QB, who fits their system and vision and they can build around that qb's skill set and would not risk someone taking their guy at 2 or 3.
If they believe 2 QBs are roughly equal and would be fine with either, then they should draft Barkley.
- Then if one of their top QBs goes at #2, they should contact the Colts to trade up. They still have enough draft ammunition to probably outbid other suitors to move up one spot.
- If neither one of their top 2 QBs goes at #2, they should stand pat and wait for one of them to drop to #4
If they believe 3+ QBs are roughly equal and would be fine with any of them, then they should draft Barkley and just wait for (at least) one of those QBs to drop to #4.
It really depends on how the Browns evaluate the QBs. There doesn't seem to be a consensus #1 this draft, so it is very possible they have multiple QBs rated similarly.

That said, it is hard to imagine that he is a guy that you build a franchise around. He's 28, depends on his legs and they got him for a third-round pick. Bills traded him even though their depth chart is now Nathan Peterman and Joe Webb.
He seems to be a bridge guy at best.
I think the Giants go QB at 2 and the 3rd overall could go to a team that wants the 3rd QB either Denver or the Jets.
The Browns could also swap places with the Colts and pick Barkley at 3.
He’s average and a free agent

Russell is a bad example. Everyone except the Raiders knew the guy had some talent (not great) but was much more likely to be a bust and only the Raiders saw him as worth the #1 overall pick.
And if that's how they see it, and they have the #1 and the #4, then they take Barkley. Whoever is left at #4 they pick.
This thread is on the money and the Browns will take a QB at #1. And the Giants will take a QB at #2 if there guy is still there.

Nail meet hammer! Bingo
Good point. That would make sense to do something like this. This leads to the Barkley 1 and Mayfield 4 idea that has been floated. Highly doubt Mayfield goes at 2 or 3 by another team so they could be safe doing this.

but with 4 not 1 - they take Barkley at 1
