Thoughts on Bill Barnwell

Mike from SI : 3/10/2018 6:25 am
I'm actually starting to believe he is aggressively bad at his job. He's a professed Giants fan and has always been tough on the team, which I've felt has been over-compensation: He killed us for the 2016 signings of Jenkins, Snacks, and Vernon. And to be clear, he didn't kill us for being in the position to need to do that--which is a fair criticism--but for the signings themselves.

Per below, I feel like he's unnecessarily critical of everything NFL teams do. In short, I do not respect his analysis at all. I had stopped reading him but clicked on the below article to give him another chance. I think his analysis is bad. The Giants deserve better than a "C" for trading inconsequential picks for a good LB when they're moving from a 4-3 to a 3-4. The Browns deserve more than a B- for trading for Tyrod Taylor, whom Barnwell has defended extensively on Twitter.

I think I'm at the point of just ignoring this guy altogether. What say you BBI? Am I being too tough?

For pointing out metric that he was using to hate on Eli had Dilfer and Trent Greene top 10 QBs of all time
I'm surprised anyone thought he was good at any point

After Schefter's breaking news, ESPN's coverage of the NFL is virtually worthless. Some people like to watch Kiper yell at teams for not drafting to fill immediate needs, but I have never really understood that either.
He's been awful

For years. How he's employed outside of the fast food industry is beyond me.

At least Kiper is knowledgeable. His opinions on ability may be off, but he accumulates a lot of raw data and uses it to make his case. He is passionate and revels in the detail.

Guys like Barnwell are lazy and just make shit up to fit their narrative. There are many on this board that know more than he will ever know about the Giants.
He tries to use advanced analytics,

but doesn’t completely understand them, so he makes unsupportable conclusions. I thought he would get better as those analytics became more mainstream, but I think he’s gotten worse.
Not a fan
