Dave Te/NFL Draft Report-The 2018 Quarterback Analysis PODCA

nflscouting : 3/10/2018 6:07 pm
Hey folks, it is time to kick off the draft season. I will be running my own podcasts which will consist of several broadcasts weekly. Below is the link with myself and former CNN sports anchor Paul Crane, talking about what we feel will happen when the veteran free agency period opens.
Here is the link to that segment;

https://vimeo.com/259505726

There are two other segments that I will provide links to tomorrow;
The Fantastic Five- a look at the players projected to be selected on Day One
The Best of the Rest-Day 2/Day 3 Draft proceedings and sleepers to look for on the free agent market

I will also be providing written analysis, taking into a lot of draft history to sprinkle into those reports.

Good to be back! I'm all refreshed and ready to go. I spent quite a bit of time on the road this year seeing these kids and I am praying to Vince Lombardi & all the football gods to get into Gettleman's head - Quenton Nelson - even if he signs Norwell.
As for going forward, I will have regular reports posted on the site & also 3-4 podcasts per week.
Also-you know me - you got a guy you need to know everything but what hand he scratches his butt with, just ask - I remember all the kind words when the wife passed. Honestly, without guys like Sy, Marty and pinstriper to name a few, I honestly do not think I would have returned to the industry.

PS-PODCASTS-they are going to be Giants specific each week, with all other teams mentioned. My next batch - the OL. Nelson is a stud, but try youtubing Nevada's Austin Corbett. Yes a college LOT, but he manhandled folks at OC down in Mobile. A sleeper for Big Blue is out in Stony Brook - look at Timon Parris & watch that kick slide - shades of Doug Risenberg

interesting that you like Nelson at #2. Does this mean you like Eli for a few more years or do you think Davis Webb is the guy?
Dave Te: WOW!

LOVE Nelson, pray they take him & not get too cute. Tomorrow, I will have a ton of info up on the "Fantastic Five" but on Monday, check out my Kyle Lauletta report - if anyone has that Cinderella glass slipper feel for the Giants future QB situation, it is that kid. They will have to pop on him in two, as the Redskins think he's already better than Cousins.
Yes, Eli will last a few more years - at home. I think the swan will sing for him after 2018. Webb? As Eli Wallach would probably say - we don't need no stinking quarterback. Not a Webb fan - big arm, small decision processing.

Richmond grad so we follow the Spiders pretty closely and have seen Lauletta play many times. Kyle is a great kid and has a lot of ability. Can his skills translate to the next level? I will leave that determination up to pros like you and Sy. I am pulling for him!

Okay, I'm back home. My boy responded - good to hear from you buddy.
PS-spent a week in Tampa at Yanks camp - dude, have you seen Frecier Perez? OMG heat that kid has. What a basketball-sized team they are going to have this year.
PS-On Monday, read the report I have on the Richmond QB. Boy, put this kid in a blue uniform....

Thanks again for dropping by and being a great source of info for the BBI crew for this draft.

I read and listened to your podcasts last year and I have one question for you. Last year you noted that the 2017 QB class wasn't that great and we should wait for the 2018 class as that would be similar to what we saw in 1983. And I know that scouting is an inexact science, but I think a month ago you said that in your mind it was Darnold or bust for the Giants, and don't bother with the rest. What changed during the 2017 college football season? Did the QBs regress that much?

As I recall, you weren't all that hot on Davis Webb, so I'm not sure what the Giants think of him, but in my mind, with the #2 pick and Eli's age, the Giants should go QB....unless the scouts think these guys aren't worth it.

Loading the Day One reports this afternoon.
Day 2 guys tonight
Day 3 guys & my sleepers on Monday.
Yeah-I'm a big fan of Lauletta - has that Phil Simms fire in his belly & possibly a future head coach. The staff says they game plan, he looks at it, adds his spice and they make changes. Gotta love a kid that knows the Xs & Os

Lookin forward to it brother man. Another name that intrigues me on day 3 is Kurt Benkert. Lauletta is really thin I worry about his long-term durability... he can get the NFL racks and snacks to beef up but that takes time and can impact throwing mechanics... Benkert and White have the cannons in my opinion

You must be reading my mind! All 3 QBs mentioned are in tomorrow's report. You might not like my White assessment - sort of did a Jaba Chamberlain type of football move in 2017. Great in 2016, it was like he became Mr Magoo recognizing backside pressure & one thing that worries me on all these QBs - very, very high fumble issues

PS-wait until you see my OL reports next weekend. You might say I want to adopt Quenton Nelson - as a left tackle! Trust me on that assessment (thinking is Gettleman gets his man - Norwell but still goes OL, where with the #2 pick - Gettleman or no later than round 2 with a sleeper at Nevada-Austin Corbett)
