Think of the strong teams currently in the NFC. Philly, Dallas, New Orleans, Carolina, Atlanta, Minny, Green Bay, St.Louis, and even San Fran now with Garrapolo. That's 9 really good teams, not to mention Seattle who still has Russel Wilson, Washington who aren't terrible, and Detroit who were a playoff team two years ago and still have Stafford in his prime.
I know it's still early in the offseason but it's gonna be tough a tough road for the Giants in the NFC to get back to the playoffs right away IMO.
Exactly my point. Which is why this offseason is the most important one since 2004. The decisions management makes in the next couple months, especially at the QB position, will make or break this team's future for the next decade or so.
The Giants right now are one of those horrid teams. The roster is a complete shambles and it's time to rebuild. May as well do it while the NFC is peaking.
I would not be surprised to see this team picking in the top 10 - if not top 5 - again next year. Too many problems to fix in one offseason with only 5 draft picks.

Without even looking outside the division, how likely is it this team is going to surpass Dallas or Philadelphia within the next 2 seasons?

As would I. There’s a better chance they go 6-10 than 10-6, in my opinion.
Another top 10 pick is not the worst thing if they want to establish something with sustainability.
I don't hate Giant management. That's an odd thing to say.
But guess what, Giant management has gotten a bunch of things wrong since 2011. That's why we are where we are, two coaches and a GM firing later, thinking that you're "just a few moves away" when you're not.
I think that’s what St Louis meant
+1
While on that subject, how many here thought the Giants roster last off-season was in "shambles". I bet not many. Their are big time holes abounding, but lets see how DG reshapes the roster. With better coaching and schemes, an 8-8 season is not too much wishful thinking, and all 500% teams are in the hunt.
