Do you have any idea where to find this for veteran QBs?
I found a link for 2008-2017

freaked out over Deshaun Watson's low MPH?
Interesting
PEEJ : 3/11/2018 12:09 pm : link
that a lot of top QB picks decided not to throw at the combine
Tanner Lee near the top

And hes terrible. Doesnt mean much.
This gets brought up every year and it has basically
robbieballs2003 : 3/11/2018 12:28 pm : link
no correlation to anything. I believe I remember reading last year that Watson was the worst in this category. How'd that translate?

Just curious, what was Deshaun Watson's MPH last year?
Ok thanks Robbie

His team at Nebraska was terrible. But he can throw a football. I watched him at the Combine and threw great. Every drill he was right on and with consistency. He could be a late round find...
If you watched the Combine...
bw in dc : 3/11/2018 12:34 pm : link
Mayfield was really trying to throw hard. He was treating each drill like a real game play - to his credit.

Allen was throwing the ball more effortlessly. As was Rosen. I have a feeling Allen and Rosen had a higher ceiling if they weren't more interested in timing and accuracy...
Any more questions about Mayfield's arm strength?
BillT : 3/11/2018 1:26 pm : link
Not saying we should draft him, even as an OU fan, but that's a pretty good number.

45
But I thought Allen was going to be closer to 70

Impressed by Mayfield's velocity but none of this means much.
Lamar Jackson
UConn4523 : 3/11/2018 1:58 pm : link
in the 1st round seems extremely unlikely post combine. Curious who takes him in round 2+.
Ive argued that Mayfields arm was very strong
Giant John : 3/11/2018 3:25 pm : link
With posters commenting about his lack of arm strength. Good to shut them up....
Some passes are not meant to be thrown
Giant John : 3/11/2018 3:31 pm : link
Full speed at all times. Especially when you want your receiver to run under the ball. Or for some short routes. Since these guys threw an equal amount of passes with the same routes it makes sense that the results are fair indicators of arm strength. Just my opinion.
Mayfield showing nice strength ......
Simms11 : 3/11/2018 3:35 pm : link
The guy has the it factor, good mobility, good accuracy, has shown durability and is clearly a guy that hates to lose. I think hell be in the discussion at #2.

There's a lot to like about Mayfield's game, there's also a lot to question about both his game and his mental make-up. I could see him going to Cleveland or the Jets, but not so much the Giants.

I think his strength on deeper throws will be the biggest question with him. If the Giants have those questions then you can be assured that the JETS do too. You have to admit though that the guy can clearly game.

I prefer Rosen, but I expect Mayfield to have a successful career in the NFL. He won't be a bust.
I can't imagine the Giants taking Mayfield
81_Great_Dane : 3/11/2018 4:36 pm : link
but he's got at least two traits I think Gettelman likes: Strong arm, aggressive attitude.
Jackson's low number is kind of alarming.
81_Great_Dane : 3/11/2018 4:38 pm : link
At least, it is if he wants to stay at QB. If he had a huge arm it'd be easier to make that argument.

He's going to have to pass well from the pocket to shut up the doubters.

Checks so many boxes but it just seems like there is something missing and we all know the height issue concern. Is it that simple we fans and NFL head guys dont like six foot QBs as top five picks? Ive seen the film he looks great doing what he does but it also looks like they are playing against inferior competition. He has all day to choose his options and for the most part once he does these guys are wide open by four yards or more. He still has to get the ball there which he does but will he have these gifts so easily given in the NFL.

NFL execs have their parameters and they aren't easily nudged. The # of sub 6-2 QBs isn't long, so it's more of a long standing knock on shorter QBs. He may turn out to be Drew Brees and a lot of teams will look stupid or he turns out to be Cade McNown and only Joe Theismann looks stupid.

Of all the criticisms of Mayfield, the only one that's really meaningful is the fact that nobody plays defense in that conference he played in. But that doesn't mean he can't play. Sheppard needed zero adjustment time when he got here.
