Will Cutting DRC Help Apple?

gidiefor : Mod : 3/11/2018 12:48 pm
It was my observation during training camp last season that DRC beats to a different drummer. There are times he would be late onto the field, and dong a different routine in the back center of the formation than the rest of the team during warmups and exercises, which would roll over into practice, and he seemed to kind of draw Apple into his orbit.
It

might. Also this is a new coaching staff so it is all good.
Apple had off field problems
Ten Ton Hammer : 3/11/2018 12:53 pm : link
I don't think DRC had anything to do with it.
The only person that can help Eli Apple is Eli Apple

I'm not saying that there weren't outside distractions -- I'm saying that his approach to the team may have also been enabled by teammates he hung out with and DRC in particular
Yup

just as cutting Terry Jackson helped the young Giant corners in the mid-eighties. But the Giants can’t cut Eli’s Mom.
personally i still trade apple
GiantsFan84 : 3/11/2018 1:15 pm : link
they can sign cockrell and then draft or sign a nickel back.
You might be on to something...

...and/or Eli Apple is just immature and needs to grow up this season, which is easier said than done.

Wrong. He 100% had "On field problems", he fucking sucked ass last year, got burnt, couldn't find the ball, couldn't make a tackle, lacked effort... the off the field stuff wasn't even brought up until he started getting abused on the field weekly.. He needs to do his fucking job regardless of what's going on with mommy and step-daddy. End of the day he is not a man yet, he is still a kid but he gets paid 3+ million per year so he needs to do his job at a high level, no more excuses, I don't care what they are.. no more looking good in training camps only to be a total dud in the season. Make or break year for Apple in New York
but gidefor
est1986 : 3/11/2018 2:04 pm : link
let's not blame DRC for Apple playing as awful as he did on defense and special teams last year. DRC was coming off an all-pro year while Apple hasn't done shit so if he Apple thinks he is DRC then that's his own problem right there.

Employee of the year over here acting like nothing that happens in real life should ever affect job performance. Let's find out how many work days you've missed.
I'm not under emphasizing anything about Apple
gidiefor : Mod : 3/11/2018 2:07 pm : link
just saying that he was drawn to DRC and DRC may have enabled some of his behavior
DRC appeared
St. Jimmy : 3/11/2018 2:13 pm : link
to be the leader of the DBs. It seemed like Collins and the other guys looked up to him and let him lead the way. It could be he didn't like Apple and the other guys followed suit. I am sure DRC thought Apple was drafted to replace him.
No - they already catered to Apple at the expense of DRC
Eric on Li : 3/11/2018 2:42 pm : link
the only thing that will help Apple is Apple not being a moron. Looks like the new regime is going to give him a chance.
I think having a "C" like Ogletree helps more
DavidinBMNY : 3/11/2018 2:51 pm : link
Maybe DRC wasn't the best influence on Apple, but Ogletree will command that D and will have instant respect in the locker.

Ogletree is equally important on and off the field for this team.
Apple Crisp is awful

I hope they move him

This. Apple needs to grow up and while his mother has had medical issues, she is also someone who is very interested in building her own brand and has created distractions everywhere. I think the sad reality is that by the time Apple grows up, he will be out of the league and realize he blew his opportunity.
now they have cut DRC
msh : 3/11/2018 3:20 pm : link
i hope gettleman has a plan to replace him in FA and a draft pick in mind as they needed to add to what they had at CB not reduce at this point there is a few choices at CB in free agency but will they be more than what they were due to pay DRC?
I doubt it

DRC didn't play that well so replacing him had to be part of the plan. Cant be afraid to move on.
Didn't see why DRC was demoted to slot corner taking only about
SB 42 and 46 and ? : 3/11/2018 9:17 pm : link
fifty percent of the snaps coming off a six pick, 2nd team all pro year.

Really didn't understand why he didn't replace Apple as an outside corner after Apple lost the Eagle game with two blatant PI calls on Eagle's TD drives.

Bingo. He's got to grow up, learn to be a professional, and win back the respect of his teammates, andd develop at a CB. He's got a long road ahead if he's to accomplish all that. I hope he can, but am pessimistic about his chances.
DRC is a weird guy
Joey in VA : 3/11/2018 10:09 pm : link
At his level of play the past two seasons it may addition by subtraction.
What Robbie said ...
Bluesbreaker : 3/12/2018 12:55 pm : link
I don;t have faith in Apple he is so awkward in coverage
if he isn't hanging on of facing the ball .
Terrible pick up to this point ..
defensive back room last year
2cents : 3/12/2018 1:37 pm : link
there was clearly issues in the DB room all last year, not specific to Apple. DRC just is not the vet you want setting the example for younger guys. There is a reason he will be on his 5th NFL team next year, and it is not due to lack of ability.
