NFT: Did OJ Confess?

trueblueinpw : 3/11/2018 10:48 pm
Did anyone watch this tonight?
I'm a sucker for OJ stuff, so yes I watched.
bceagle05 : 3/11/2018 10:55 pm : link
I do think it was his confession, but what struck me more is the lengths he goes to justify his behavior. Everything is Nicole's fault, to the point where he visits her grave and yells at her (because he can't beat or kill her anymore). What an animal he is.
Animal is right

I canít believe he got off. Most ridiculous trial ever. Talk about a slam dunk. At this point though, thatís all ancient history. But that interview. He seemed smug to me. The lowest of the low.
It was a slam dunk, but it was also a compete failure of the

judicial process. The ethical and legal boundaries that Cochran was allowed to cross was astounding as he fabricated OJís entire life in order to mind-fuck the jurors.
It's surreal to listen to him.
bceagle05 : 3/11/2018 11:11 pm : link
There's pictures of Nicole with bruises all over her body after that one New Year's Eve fight, and his defense is basically, "Well, she started it!"

I will never understand that. I got shit thrown at me by my ex wife when she was on drunken/drug induced rampages and I never once even considered getting physical. I dodged, ducked, dipped dived and dodged but never retaliated.
And OJ makes her out to be some loose cannon
bceagle05 : 3/11/2018 11:20 pm : link
which is contradicted by everyone who ever knew her. She hardly sounds like an aggressor on any of the 911 recordings - she's scared shitless in every one of them.

I think a lot of blame falls on Judge Ito. Seemed like a putz and totally overwhelmed by the media circus.

Yeah ...Ito seemed like he was overwhelmed by the celebrity in the court room and I am talking about the high profile lawyers (not just OJ). Seemed like it never dawned on him that HE was in charge?
"You talk about removing a glove ..."
short lease : 3/12/2018 12:04 am : link
OJ - "I don't remember but, obviously I must have because they found a glove there".

If they found a glove there .... which they did - How can it be hypothetical? That's real.

And if that part is not "hypothetical" ... then none of it is?
Ito was a moron who was too afraid to control
LauderdaleMatty : 3/12/2018 12:06 am : link
His courtroom. The evidence was pretty overwhelming even w Itoís failures and Sarden and Clark being almost as bad. Never mind that jury didnít care if did it

OJ had the "Dream Team" defending him. The Prosecutors were made to look like the keystone cops; plus it didn't help that Mark Furman was shown to be a racists and liar on the stand. It should have been a slam dunk with the mountain of evidence they had.

Judge Ito was in awe of the dream team and let them do what they want, essentially putting Furman on trial instead of OJ.

The verdict represented comeuppance for years of blatant racism by the LAPD.

Completely ridiculous verdict, but doesnít take much time searching the web to find stories of what the LAPD was all about

I remember watching the bronco chase at a buddyís house whoís father is a well known defense attorney - he said that night OJ was guilt as hell, but as a defense attorney all he would need was at 4 minorities on the jury and he could get OJ acquitted.
after the cops that nearly killed Rodney King got off

another painful injustice was going to happen, and OJ was it.

Lot of reasons why guilty OJ got off
bc4life : 3/12/2018 8:41 am : link
Prosecution team was weak and unprofessional. Crime scene processing was horrendous. Misconduct by LAPD. Some brutal cross examination by Scheck. Jury was OJ friendly. Judge could have been stronger.

The defense did a brilliant job
Mike from Ohio : 3/12/2018 8:54 am : link
of convincing the jury that the trial was much bigger than whether OJ killed Nichole and Ron. With the cluelessness of the prosecution team and Ito, they were free to convince the jury that it was time to stand up against racism and the LAPD, and all they had to do was say "not guilty." They all had the chance to be heroes. The jury preferred that to sifting through endless hours of complicated DNA evidence none of them understood.
Remember it was DA Garcetti
BillT : 3/12/2018 10:14 am : link
Who moved the trial from Brentwood to LA. That was the end of any chance OJ would be convicted and he knew it.

Well said. If memory serves one of the jurors gave OJ the raised fist as the not guilt verdict was read

Scheck was the Dream Team DNA expert. Since DNA was "new" at the time he broke down so well the prosecutions guy (name escapes me at the moment) on the stand and rendered the their DNA evidence as useless and untrustworthy. He was a master in that cross examination. The Dream Team of Lawyers was too strong for the prosecution.

I believe he did it, but all the Dream Team had to do raise a little doubt and they win and win they did.
He'd be

guilty as sin in 2018. A lot of people didn't understand the DNA stuff back in '95. Also, the defense shifted the whole thing from murder to a 'LAPD is racist' narrative.

& the prosecution team sucked, Darden especially. Him challenging OJ to put on the glove was malpractice. Just terrible.
The defense had a jury dying to be spoon fed...
Crispino : 3/12/2018 10:48 am : link
a concocted defense. There could have been videotape of OJ cutting Nicoleís head off and they werenít going to convict him. Didnít matter at all what kind of job the prosecution did.

I agree, though it would've been nice if those photos of OJ wearing the Bruno Magli shoes had emerged during the criminal trial, rather than the civil trial. That was the next best thing to the murder weapon and his bloody clothes.
Saddest was the DNA

Means 1% chance it wasn't him

Which means reasonable doubt, not guilty.

The unspoken anrrative is that it was payback for Rodney King, which was very freash on everybody's mind at the time

Not a whole lot. Just that Goldman and OJ got into an argument and OJ kinda challenged/taunted him - "You think you can kick my ass?" That's when Nicole came on the scene and somehow just "fell." Next thing you know, OJ blacks out and everyone's covered in blood. It was total bullshit.

The actual evidence points to Goldman showing up while OJ was beating Nicole, then OJ kinda went back and forth killing both of them.
He's a lowlife scumbag
Metnut : 3/12/2018 11:42 am : link
and didn't get what he deserved. Still, I'd rather an occasional OJ go free than give away an inch of due process rights.

I don't get this. He's saying that the glove was his? I thought the most made for tv moment was that the glove couldn't be his because it didn't fit?
It was
Pete in MD : 3/12/2018 12:00 pm : link
absolutely the sentiment at the time but OJ being the poster child for the LA minority community was completely ridiculous. The LAPD had issues but they weren't exactly profiling rich and famous people in Brentwood.

It was a racist(anti-white) jury from Day 1
Stan in LA : 3/12/2018 12:02 pm : link
They could have had a video of OJ committing the murders and a signed confession and the jury still would acquitted. Despicable.
A bunch of us
Photoguy : 3/12/2018 12:48 pm : link
were in the break room where I worked, watching when the verdict was read. Aside from one guy, the rest of us were stunned at the outcome.
why is this even a topic?
fkap : 3/12/2018 1:00 pm : link
does anyone, including those that cheered for the verdict, think he's not the killer?
There was never even a one in a trillion chance he wasn't the murderer
baadbill : 3/12/2018 8:11 pm : link
and there was not a single well read human being on the planet who didn't know it. The criminal verdict was a somewhat understandable example of jury nullification. As for Simpson, he's obviously an asshole and however bad the remainder of his life becomes, it will never be bad enough to give him what he deserves.

Yup. Hell, a juror in the OJ 30 for 30 said as much.
