would you really trust an employee's opinion about a friend?
Are they friends? Never ready many Shepard interview, no idea if he has even mentioned Mayfield.
It wouldn't stop me from asking for an opinion. People ask you for references about yourself on all sorts of things from job applications to renting an apartment.
The Giants have been looking at Baker Mayfield footage for two college seasons. I'm sure they have plenty of info to work with given that the scouting process would have taken them to Oklahoma coaches and trainers and such.
It would be stupid to not ask Shepard about how he feels
about a QB who the team may draft with the 2nd overall pick.. You don't simply base your answer on what Shepard says but you ask him about personal stuff that only a team mate may know.. and if you have an in house person who may be able to provide some info.. you definitely make a 20 min call to find out..
I think if you are considering Mayfield at all you might want to ask for an honest assessment of how he was as a teammate. I think you leave the on-field assessment up to the scouts and your player-personnel team.

Very little is probably the answer.
nada,
not even a sliver.
"...psssst, Mayfield is more accurate than Eli."
