I’d rather find RB depth in the draft.
I think Gallman wiill be the primary back next year

does Stewart have enough left to be the change of pace/backup?

hard pass is my initial thought, my second thought? if we dont get barkley, he could be useful inside the 5 as opposed to gallman
Wasn't he one of the guys who bitched about Gettleman?

Maybe I'm remembering it wrong or maybe it just doesn't matter. Money has a way of putting grudges in the past.
How old is he?

Darkwa is great inside the 5. Stewart is a spent cartridge .

Not sure I want to add a 30 year old back.
Dan Blue : 3/12/2018 4:07 pm : link
He's a big strong back that could be our short yardage back. Just not sure if we need a 30 year old running back.

look for the Giants to add one veteran running back. They are not going to go to camp with Gallman, Perkins, and rookies.
I prefer Darkwa before Stewart. Stewart is starting to break down.
Ivan15 : 3/12/2018 4:16 pm : link
With his problem fixed, Darkwa showed in 2017 that he can be ready every game.

Darkwa may be out of DG’s price range

Why does it feel like Jonathan Stewart

You have a draft coming up, which the top player in the draft is arguably a RB named Barkley. If the Giants want Barkley (I'm not saying they do), they may feel the need to make the Browns think they are going in a different direction.

SamdaGiantsFan : 3/12/2018 4:42 pm : link
and fills a need as a short yardage back. hopefully the dollar signs work out, because I wouldn't give him much more than the vet minimum, but he can add some solid veteran presence and work with young RBs such as Perk and Gallman

I think the Browns know Barkley isn't making it past pick #3. They either have to take him #1 or they don't get him (without a trade up I guess).

why not. He is still a useful player.

You guys have to start thinking about turning around this locker room.

Bringing in steady vets will help accomplish that. I'd prefer vets in as many places as we can get them.

Too much intrigue. He's just a vet coming in for look, doubt the Browns see this as anything significant.

This was a veteran team that went 3-13, for what that's worth.
Stewart is one of the better pass blocking RBs in the league
Peppers : 3/12/2018 7:24 pm : link
Not a sexy pick up by any means but he's serviceable. The interest makes sense.
Other than OJ Anderson
Matt in SGS : 3/12/2018 7:38 pm : link
the Giants haven't had that great of a history of big name running backs who are past their prime. Running backs infamously fall off a cliff once they lose it. So unless Stewart becomes a specialist in some form, either as a short yardage back for Leroy Hoard-esque TD vulture, he likely wouldn't fare much better than the Dorsey Levens or Brian Mitchells of the world when they came to the Giants.

Though...per BBI lore, Dorsey Levens was impressive vs. the Eagles.
And that is exactly why
redwhiteandbigblue : 3/12/2018 7:40 pm : link
Stewart gets a look. He is a good blocker and picks up blitzes well. At 37 y.o. with a bunch of new faces on the OL, we need to protect Eli. Darkwa is absolutely AWFUL at picking up the blitz. We do not want Darkwa. Please!

Said for sure he will watch the film has he maybe fallen asleep in the film room? You have two young HB’s what’s your plan with Stewart taking the ball out of there hands when they need as many carries as possible to find out if they belong. The veteran presence sounds great but this team has enough vets just earning a paycheck why continue this failed process.

Yeah, let’s sign Stewart and throw the league off our trail that our real target is Barkley...
Better yet...let’s re-sign Ryan Nassib
Jimmy Googs : 3/13/2018 6:34 am : link
and that should take care of any team that thinks we may go QB too
What is the connection..
FatMan in Charlotte : 3/13/2018 8:59 am : link
to OJ Anderson??

Anderson was one of the best RB's in the league and would've led the league in rushing more times had Payton not been around.

He came to us after 7 very successful seasons in StL.

When he retired, he had the 10th most rushing yards in NFL history.

What has Stewart done to even approach the idea he's OJ 2.0 except play for another team for years?
Anderson should have had even better #s than he finished with.
Victor in CT : 3/13/2018 9:24 am : link
The Cards stupidly were phasing him out in order to play Stump Mitchell when they traded him to the Giants.
