Another team in on Patriots OT Nate Solder: The New York Giants. After losing out on Andrew Norwell, their search for offensive line help continues. Pats will have a battle to hold on to Tom Brady's left tackle.

i guess we missed the boat on that one huh? we have an aging QB if you want to be AT ALL competitive, it starts with the OL. sign solder who still has 3-5 left in him and draft a OG in either nelson or one of the round 2 guys....

sorry but you guys are crazy if you dont think this would be a massive upgrade to our OL

are you insane, Whitworth was all pro in 2015 and 2017. Now, his age was an issue and I can understand passing on him, but to equate Nate Solder to Whitworth is probably the dumbest thing I have read today and I have read a lot of dumb things today.

Easy killers. No where in that comment did he say Solder was Whitworth. What hes saying is that if you pass on the only guy avqilqble youre flipping retarded. Its not about Whitworth vs Solder, its about Flowers vs Solder lol. Comeon guys make a wee bit of sense huh?

Truth hurts, doesn’t it? Wait until you see how bad he fucks up the draft.

Some of you are so positive that it’s amazing that you make it through the day without jumping off a bridge. Relax and let the offseason play out.

They could have found the fountain of youth for Anthony Munoz last year, and still had a horrible season. The entire WR position was decimated by injury, and McAdoo’s system sucked.
Great I look forward to

Ok so we got a new coach. The offseason is over lets go win 10 games next year with no changes to the OL

I severely doubt that will be the case. When you consider that Gettleman spent his whole press conference talking about the OL and getting some hog mollys, he’s going to make changes. Whether those changes work out, that remains to be seen.

Im referring to the geniuses on here who claim every one available is either too old or too expensive.

Happens every year. If we don’t sign the equivalent of LT in his prime within the first 3 minutes of free agency, this place becomes Arkham Asylum.
I’m sure that Solder and his family prefer Boston
Rick in Dallas : 3/13/2018 6:58 pm : link
We will have to overpay to get him to come to the Giants.
Solder had an outstanding second half of the year. He was terrific in the playoffs.
Would be a big upgrade over EF.
Giants absolutely need a LT

Say no to Solder
giantstock : 3/13/2018 7:21 pm : link
Thankfully we didn't get Norwell. too many holes to fill to spend on one OG.

As for Solder- he's too old. The G-Men aren't winning this year.

Getting an old OT is not the answer.

Get Fleming instead. By the time the Giants get good, Solder will be washed up.

Ten Ton Hammer : 3/13/2018 7:41 pm : link
because wisdom from 15 years ago says guards shouldn't make a lot of money but throw money at a 30 year old tackle with injury and concussion concerns who doesn't really want to play anywhere other than NE. Good talk.

overpaying is built into free agency. the questions is how mush do you have to overpay. IMO, he'll be able to get more elsewhere.

His little one has some health issues, so, that will probably be foremost in his thought process (e.g., access to best treatment)

Reb8thVA : 3/13/2018 7:49 pm : link
But use your money so you can pay a bunch of bargain basement specials. That makes perfect sense. It’s not like we haven’t tried that before. I see Jerry Reese is making a special guest appearance on BBI.

I would been fine paying Norwell what JAX paid him
Knee of Theismann : 3/13/2018 7:55 pm : link
Instead we're going to end up paying Pugh and Solder a combined $25M/year to be mediocre. How can you argue a little extra dough isn't worth all-pro play vs. mediocre/sub-par play? I don't care guard vs. tackle, o-line is o-line in today's NFL with all the different blitz schemes Defenses come up with these days.
I agree
big canoe jeff : 3/13/2018 7:55 pm : link
But the Giants need to do it this year only
Then we should be in a good$$$ situation DG needs to be firm don’t kick the can down the road so we are in perpetual cap hell like forever under reese

I think this proves
Knee of Theismann : 3/13/2018 7:58 pm : link
That David Diehl is like essentially the reason we won 2 super bowls. We got insanely lucky getting a guy in the 7th round who wasn't even a left tackle and he ended up filling that role reliably well for half a decade.

when we drafted Petitgout in the 1st. I was crushed the year we just missed out on Ogden and got Cedric Jones.

I’d be really surprised if we don’t take at least one OL in Rounds 2 and 3.

I would too. Building the OL through the draft will take a couple a couple of years but you need to start with this draft.
Seems like they went through a period
idiotsavant : 3/13/2018 8:55 pm : link
Where they wanted the line to 'look professional' ( I.E. not fat wide droopy pants).

Which is very silly of course. Get great football players. Wide is fine.

they can play into their mid 30s in most cases. He’s an average LT, but he could add some stability to the position for a few years.
