I think there's some truth in this, but not to the level where Mark Herzlich deserves to get another contract. If we're saying he's here for "culture", well, he was here last year too. How did that make a difference? You can generate good locker room culture by assembling a talented football team and winning games. You don't have to make a guy a team mascot.
There's performance, but there's also attitude/desire/locker room presence. Gettelman knows this guy, wants him here. Even if the first side is only so-so (at best, probably), the locker-room side is important too.
If they lose Vereen and/or Darkwa and/or Perkins but feel they added a great locker room guy, that's at least some kind of progress.

we're only getting 5 young guys thru the draft. Without $100M in cap space,the rest of the openings on this roster are going to have to be filled with UDFAs and veteran FAs who may not be Pro-Bowlers, but add value to the roster. Let's give Gettleman a chance to find those guys.

This roster is in dire need of a re-build, and not just on the OL, but across the board. This to me implies getting younger and ridding yourself of veterans who most likely won't be on the team 2-3 years from now, and not going out a signing over the hill RBs.

Maybe Stewart is a guy players respect, I have no idea, but it's a really easy thing to do to claim a guy was brought in to change "the culture", and really hard to show how that's supposed to happen. You already changed room by getting rid of a coach who was clearly drowning and who guys knew was a dead man walking.

He was really explosive his first few years in the league. I remember he was one of my favorite backs to watch around 2008, 2009. Then injuries hit, and he lost a bit of that explosiveness but he still remained an effective back thanks to his vision and bowling ball style.
Is here to have a vet in the RB room ,Herzlich is here for Vet in the special teams room Eli is the vet in the QB room OBJ is the man in the WR room Jackrabbit is the vet in the DB room now was DRC ,Ogletree is now the vet in the LB room ..... if we can get Solder he will be the man in the OLine room and so on
