First-pick Mock with trade with bills

njurygiants : 3/14/2018 12:12 am
Hello,

Don’t post here very often but I decided to do a mock tonight on first pick with a trade with the bills and liked how it came out, so I thought I would post here for feedback. Interested to hear thoughts on the mock as a whole or thoughts on feelings about it the picks would be good fits for the Gmen.

Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 12 (BUF): Edmunds, Tremaine, OLB, Virginia Tech (A)
Round 1 Pick 22 (BUF): McGlinchey, Mike, OT, Notre Dame (A-)
Round 2 Pick 2: Michel, Sony, RB, Georgia (B)
Round 3 Pick 2: Allen, Marcus, FS, Penn State (A-)
Round 4 Pick 2: Toliver II, Kevin, CB, LSU (A+)
Round 5 Pick 2: Norton, Kendrick, DT, Miami (FL) (A+)

Your Future Picks:
2019 Round 1 Pick (BUF)
2019 Round 1 Pick
2020 Round 1 Pick
Edmunds is a total boom bust pick

limited LB instincts.. good athletic ability.. young.. doesnt even really know the game..
I Actually Support The Trade Down

I would expect that the Giants would be able to get the following from the Bills for the #2 pick overall:

2 1st rounders in 2018
2 2nd rounders in 2018
2 3rd rounders in 2018
1 1st rounder in 2019

With 8 premium picks in rounds 1-3 this year, they should draft along the lines of 4 OL (2 T, 1 C, 1 G), 2 CB, 1 S, 1 RB).

Obviously you have some thoughts and views as to how the draft will unfold - How would your draft board look on those 8 premium round picks this year? Would be interesting to see how you see it shaking out if they were able to grab those picks this year

Ouch - Sounds like Flowers and Apple. Young players who aren't really developed to be coming out of college
You're going to have to get McGlinchey
allstarjim : 3/14/2018 1:17 am : link
At 12 because I promise you he won't be available at #22.
Also

I want to burn that mock with fire.

Good try, though.

The deal has to be at least
allstarjim : 3/14/2018 1:21 am : link
Both of Buffalo's 1st rounders, one of their 2nds, and a 1st next year.

McGlinchey at 12

OG Hernandez @ 22
Stewart

Signing took you out of the early HB draft pick today we have three slots filled in the backfield can’t see what drafting another one early does for us.
What 3 spots
Tuckrule : 3/14/2018 5:17 am : link
Perkins gallman and Stewart. Perkins, IMO, isn’t guaranteed a thing. He stinks. Before we say our backfield is set let’s wait and see how this new regime likes the old guys picks.

I don't agree. It is a one year deal.
^^

Signing a vet back who’s clearly here to teach and change the culture doesn’t prevent you from drafting a guy like Barkley or guice. Infant, you can flip it and say, he’s a perfect mentor
Guys

We have two young guys we still don't know if they have anything but they are both just 24 years old with very limited NFL miles on them. Now we added Stewart looks like he will be the primary back which means only one can be 1B, the other better be a special teams demon. Perkins does not sting the offense stunk expect to see very good competition between him and Gallman for the backup slot.
Stink
Dragon : 3/14/2018 6:37 am : link
Not sting.

100% agree with this. I would be so psyched.
we would have to get both the Bills first round picks and at a second
ZogZerg : 3/14/2018 7:55 am : link
round pick.

Also, ND OT will not be there in the 20s.

This is a good excercise though.
What do we get this year to give up a QB of the future?
Do we end up trading away a bunch of picks in a few years when Webb doesn't work out?
Keep in mind

with First Pick site you can only accept the trade offers given to you or ones you propose to them. So when your pick comes up you can't "ask" to trade down or counter the offers given to you. YOu can either accept one of the offers proposed or make your pick. When not your pick you can propose a trade to the team picking.
No interest in giving away the #2 overall pick

in a draft of approx 6 blue chip prospects.
Think about this for a second.

You have a team that's been chasing a franchise QB for 20 years. They are willing to give up the farm to move up and draft one of the many potential franchise QB's in this draft and the Giants, who have a 37 year old QB on his last leg and an unknown 2nd year 3rd round draft pick at QB should trade back and draft a bunch of depth players? How does this make sense to anyone. Stay at 2, draft your best QB on the board. If maybe you can move back a spot or 2 to accumulate picks and still get one of the QB's you like, fine. Trading with the Bills and then being the bills of the last 20 years makes no sense.
If you do that, Advise , be more flexible

Positionally at 12. Not saying a WR. Fuck that. But,DT,DE/olb, S, LB, G, OT, RB, TE.....see who drops and look for that blue chipper.

Obviously most of us would favor a shorter trade down like to 3,4,5 or even 6.
I was pondering

exactly this yesterday after reading that the Bills are hot for a QB. The jump from #12 to #2 is a big one, so I would want alot in return. For the #2 pick in this draft, I'd want their 2 first rounders, #12 & #22, Their 2 second rounders, #53 & 56, and their 2019 first round pick.

Our first 3 rounds could look like this:
RD 1 (#12) R. Smith, LB Georgia
RD 1 (#22) I. Wynn, OT Gergia
RD 2 (#34) I. Oliver, CB Colorado
RD 2 (#53) M. Rankin, OT Miss St.
RD 2 (#56) A. Key, DE LSU
RD 3 (#66) R. Penny, RB SDSU

I am not sure Key is there at #56. If not, I like Lorenzo Carter to pair with Smith. We could also look at Justin Reid, S out of Stanford.

What do you think?

Old Dirty I would want that as well but keep in mind any good deal has to work for both sides. I don't think Buffalo is going to give up both 1's, both 2's, AND a 1 next year. Drop a 2 and it's realistic, and still a pretty good overpay according to the charts (which it should be), and it's a nice haul for NY. I do like your scenario a lot better. Particularly Wynn at #22, and love Roquan Smith. Couple of notes on the rest...I have a feeling Penny is going to go in the 2nd round. I also think that Arden Key is a guy to avoid. Giants have always been a character first. With a guy like Key...a supremely talented pass rusher but a reputation of being a lazy player, those guys are the ones that bust. He wouldn't be a consideration for me if I was in charge at any pick. I like your other choices. Rankin I believe will be a good pro tackle.
