Obviously this is too early to post this and things might look very different in a few days, but I wonder why we aren’t hearing about filling other holes. By my count we need to add about 16 real NFL caliber players to field a competitive team. I count about 4 DB, 3 LB, 1 DL, 4 OL, 2 WR , 2 RB. Feel free to sub in a 2 way TE and subtract a WR as Engram is sort of a hybrid. These are players who would be starters or see significant playing time. I understand the need for OL, but I hope we see at least 6 FA signings. Even if we trade back in the draft, there are a ton of players needed. If we don’t trade back, only 5 picks is not much. There might be a bunch of UDFA on this team. I emphasize there is still tons that may happen, including trading OBJ for picks and the trade back scenario. I’m not saying what I want to be done, just doing the math.
From there, fill in the holes and then create extra cap space as required, eg, Harris and Marshall can be let go for cap space.
you just try to find pieces that support your goal for that offseason. With the problems they have, it's not a 1 year fix.
Solder right now is a main target but we may not get him even with an overpay scenario. He just may not want to be here.
Well, we did sign Herz, wupdeeefreakindoo.......
About a third of them were starters....
Kennard is gone and Ogletree is signed....upgrade...but he comes with a price.....he is paid more than our entire linebacking group last season...
Stewart? I think we have more pressing needs to spend his money on....
But let's face it, the free agents that are out there are not going to turn this team around in one year......we are going to have to fill this roster with vet min players, and we have to hit on the draft.....
How many players from our drafts become starters, and play at a level expected of them? One? Sometimes two?
The new regime has to change that.....
ALL offensive Lines suck...so they're an anchor or two plus fills from being "survivable suck/passable".
All NFL teams are begging for DB's..always. It's the second NotForLong position, behind RB...so, you al;ways need dbs.
At the Core, the team needs some DL Depth, an O Line anchor or Two, maybe another LB, and an RB---- thats my FA menu....maybe a Receiver. The rest is Draft and UDFA/Camp Competes without contracts.
they are limited in the moves they can make in 2018 and have players to sign like Beckham and Collins.
They need to stabilize the starting lineup even if they fill in with marginal starters who will be replaced in a year or two.
Jon if you hear it’s a 2-3 year rebuild or whatever you want to call it, how can the Giants justify not drafting a QB at 2? Eli has looked pretty awful and I don’t think anyone could possibly believe he will look good in 3 years. Webb has no tape and not to many people think the world of him. I always appreciate your opinions not just what though hear. What are your thoughts on this?

Yep, operating under a 2-3 rebuild plan is what I'd heard.

I would pick Darnold if he's there, that hasn't changed since the middle of last Fall. But, it's been dead quiet on NYG/QB unless they're really keeping a lid on it. To this point, it seems they're to reload for 2018 more than rebuild.
Suppose you could say they're not in a position to really begin ripping it apart now if you look at the acceleration of cap hits etc. Perhaps they're going to ride it until there's no choice but to rip it apart.
It's a yearly process to put as competitive a team as you can on the field, and build using all the resources at your command -- be it FA, Trade, Draft or dealing with your own players/staff
