to raise the price of the OL FA. Everyone knows the Giants are OL hungry. Their taking are offer and leaking it to teams with more cap, and probably better tax situations to get just a little more for their client. I can't blame them.
agents always play teams off each other to drive up the price of their client. It is kinda their job. They aren't using the Giants to any greater degree.

I'd want my agent to be looking for the best deals. I don't think driving the price up is an objective... in bidding for a player, teams offer what they're willing to pay. So, I don't see the Giants as a pawn... they're bidding for players they want.
Reese regime performed and now we are paying the price. Maybe we can get someone half decent to cover for a short period of time but we have to start from scratch really and we need to focus on OL in a huge manner in the draft. I would say at least two if not three top picks must be OL and we probably need two starters from that group.
Unless Gettleman can find guys like he has before, our OL might only be marginally better than last year.
John Mara needs to take a lot of accountability for allowing Reese to stay as long as he did. Shameful, really, absolutely shameful but we are now back at square one re: the OL.
Enough already with you. Is this your first offseason as a fan? Christ we all know how this works and no one is explicitly using the Giants as a pawn, you are just too fucking dense to grasp the basics of anything other than starting idiotic threads. Aren’t you the same Mr Upbeat who started a thread to tell us all to cheer up after losing out on Norwell? So you are either bipolar or just plain stupid. I am opting for the latter based on your half wit posts. And btw latter means the second one, not something you climb up and fall off of when you reach for that shiny thing that gets your attention.
If I draft a QB I would look to move Eli. The only way to take advantage of having a young QB is to be able to use the cap savings to bring in FAs. To me there is no reason to pay a lame duck QB $20+ million especially since we are not going to really compete this year. Drafting a QB and keeping Eli basically makes our 1st pick useless this season. We cant afford that because we have too many major holes at costly positions. A good OL costs money. A good secondary costs money plus we are going to have to pay OBJ.
Obviously you dont make big cuts until you draft the player but there are always some good players cut after the draft that we can use the Eli money to help rebuild.
I think any good agent would look at the Giants situation and say to their client - This team is at least a year away from competing, I think we can get similar money from a team that has a better chance to win now
We are connected to both Norwell and Solder, along with other teams.
It just doesn't surprise me that an unknown team swoops in and out bids the teams that are being mentioned.
So when every poster on this board with real football knowledge and a level head tells you that it's stupid to pay top dollar for a guard when your roster is in this kind of shape, what goes through your head? Really curious.

I understand what you're saying..
From what I heard NYG was not in on Hubbard and they only called (price checking) about the RBs - Lewis, McKinnon, Hyde. That's partly how I knew what McKinnon's asking price per year was when I posted that yesterday.
They tried for Norwell. I don't know the real reason why he went with Jax over NYG (no one does, they're assuming tax reasons) but from what I heard a month or so ago he's not a fan of the media.. And with NY being such a large media driven market I'm only assuming that played a factor, obviously I could be way off. It was probably a combination of things. Jax is on the up as well, more of an appealing destination right now.
We are in on Solder, that's no secret but I heard its still likely he goes back to New England. I know that goes against what some of the mainstream guys are saying.. And I'm hoping NYG can land him.
However, it has been confirmed through various beat writers. Giants contract for Norwell was identical to the one he signed in Jax. He chose Jax over NYG. That and several millions saved with no state taxes in FL made that a rather easy choice.
Clearly though, Drew R is in the doghouse with NYG. Norwell's offer was shopped. Newsflash, this happens everyday in the NFL folks
Because people hear things down by the shore?
So when then Browns start signing people, it's because...?
Maybe it s as simple as this: The circumstances around some of the players coveted by the Giants dictated better choice choices elsewhere.
It s not a reflection of Gettleman s personality, the Giants being in a rebuild mode or Giants not being a solid destination
It s about economics and opportunity, it always is.
It s fun to read this board, but I think a lot the angst being displayed on this board is centered on being a contender next season.
That might happen, but Gettleman is here for the long hall in a different note, , I think that is why he takes a quarterback.

Thoughts on choosing between Hokies, NC State and Clemson??
Blacksburg bound??
