How far will Lamar Jackson drop?

yankeeslover : 3/14/2018 10:17 am
My dream draft would be Barkley at 2 and then Jackson with our 2nd round pick. I am no expert just a fan and I know nothing, but ever since I watched Jackson rip apart Syracuse in 2016 I wanted him. I think he ends up the best QB in this class.
Once again, before I'm ripped I know nothing and just a fan. Lol
I think he'll drop..

to the mid-2nd round. His lack of velocity is a possible game-changer for a lot of scouts.

I initially was hoping to trade down, get extra picks and select Jackson, but he didn't have a great showing at the combine and probably confirmed some of the concerns about accuracy and velocity.

That's a bingo!! His arm can't push it past the hashes, that's doom for an NFL QB.
Lamar Jackson?

We can find better WR in this draft.
I also

love this scenario. With the right offensive mind (ie Shurmur, hopefully) an attack of Odell, Jackson, Engram and Barkley could be nearly impossible to stop. I doubt it happens, but that sure wouldn't be your grandpappy's Giants anymore...

As unlikely as that is, I do think Jackson is being overlooked and will be one of the 2 best qbs in this draft.
I think he'll go late 1st.

He is a QB, and teams place a premium, and he can possibly play WR, so there is a fallback if he flames out at QB.
I think he drops farther than lots here think

He said he didn't want to move from QB, however his arm strength and accuracy are not up to the NFL standards. He is a great athlete who can run around and make things happen, but with all the great athletes in the NFL on defense that doesn't really work. I wouldn't be surprised to see him drop into the 3rd, and some other lesser known QB's get picked ahead of him.
I definitely..

think this is more likely than him going in the 1st round:

He was a guy who needed a good combine and he didn't have it.
Apparently there are teams that really like him...

I think he'll rebound at his pro day.

So I'm thinking early second. Which I think is most estimations...
Unless his velocity improves at his pro day ...

He's undraftable at QB to me.
Telll you what

Anytime I have to see L Jax play, I'll tune in.
He probably goes to AZ
BigBlueDownTheShore : 3/14/2018 11:28 am : link
thats where I have him pegged.
Mid 3rd

Someone will take a flyer. He is not an NFL QB.
Teams are desperate for QB's.
Keith : 3/14/2018 11:38 am : link
Someone will take him late 1st, IMO. QB's are valued so much higher than everyone else.
He doesn't want to be drafted as a receiver - which is why
Ira : 3/14/2018 11:47 am : link
he didn't run the 40.

It almost has to. Did you see him throwing at the Combine?

He was just aiming everything and not going for it. Seemed like he didn’t want fail versus trying to succeed.

My guess is he gets constructive feedback and adjusts accordingly.

FYI, there's no drill at the combine where prospects try to throw the ball as hard as possible and they measure MPH. I watched him throw and he was purposefully not trying to throw the ball hard to show off accuracy. It was a bad decision because he didn't look very good throwing the ball, but he has a big arm.

Late 1st/Early 2nd.

Just a hunch...
I think he drops late 2 at least
Amtoft : 3/14/2018 8:20 pm : link
Of course he still has time to repair some of his image as a QB, but that arm will hurt him.
I'll sign up for that anyday

Barkley and LJax

Having the arm to flick the ball deep down the middle is one thing, having the arm to drive the ball to the hashes is what makes an NFL QB. He doesn't have the base to do that, he still sets up too high and too narrow. He can possibly fix that, but if he's trying that hard to be accurate and reign in this gun he supposedly has, you don't want the ball in his hands if you have 2 minutes and 80 yards to go. He can scoot, the comparisons to Vick in that regard even by Vick himself are stupid, he's nowhere near the twitchy freak Vick was, but that doesn't hold up over time in this league. You have to be able to throw the football against NFL defensive minds, this isn't college for a reason and I don't think Lamar does much long term as a QB. I think he'll be a hot topic for a few amazing drives or games like Kaepernick and RG3 were, but long term he has to become a passer and I don't see it.
