Kolton Miller size-wise is similar to Nate Solder. I wouldn't mind taking him with the 2nd pick, plug him into RT now and take over LT when Solder leaves.
Top of the 2nd round is a bit high for Miller.
Section331 : 3/14/2018 11:12 am : link
I'd rather take the chance that he drops into the 3rd than reach for him.

By some accounts, he really impressed scouts and teams at the Combine, and I doubt he slips past mid-second round.
I've seen plenty that has Miller sliding into the end of Day 1
LI NHB : 3/14/2018 11:18 am : link
so if he's there at 34, I'd be just fine. That or Hernandez to slot in at left guard also wouldn't be too shabby.

Do it. Get in there and get Rosen's autograph on your chest. Then you can get the autograph tattooed. You'll be a BBI legend.

I've campaigned for Lamar Jackson quite a bit around here over the last few months and would still love a scenario where we get him at the top of the 2nd rd if he were to drop there - but I'm all in on Josh Rosen if we're taking a QB @ 2.

The concussions worry me but this is the most advanced, polished passer in the draft and the best bet to be the best QB if he stays on the field, IMO.

If we're taking a QB @ 2- this is who I want.

Next year's draft does not appear to have a consensus franchise QB. If the Giants pass on a QB they might have to wait two more years. Get Rosen now and let him sit behind Eli to learn what is required to be a franchise QB in NY. If Eli struggles during the first half of the season then make the switch to Rosen.

Agreed on all accounts. I'm not sure how many of you watch college football closely, but there will not be a qb worthy of a top 10 pick in 2019. So that pushes you to 2020 where you potentially have Shea Patterson and Jake Fromm, assuming the Giants are in position to get one, neither is a qb that will do particularly well in the Meadowlands, both lack prototypical size and arm strength the Giants like. So now you're really taking about 2021.

The caveat here is that someone could rise out of nowhere. However, these late risers that concern me the most, they have the highest bust potential, think Jeff George, Christian Ponder, and Blake Bortles. It's usually the guys you know about for a while that have successful NFL careers. That's why this years pick has to be Darnold or Rosen, unless the front office is content to wait for 2021 and trade a boat load of picks to get up to pick 1.

Right 2019 looks to be Drew lock and Clayton Thornson are the two top qbs. You'll probably have other mid round guys available like Jacob Eason Jarret Stidham- both of whom are likely 3-5 round picks. However, neither neither Lock nor Thornson are on the same planet as Darnold or Rosen. In fact, Lock went back to school because he was projected to be a mid round pick in the 2018. I'll add that it most of you are scared by Rosen's injuries, you'll be petrified Thornsons knee injury, it was gruesome.

In 2020, Shea Patterson and Jake Fromm, neither are Giant type qbs. Thus, were really looking at 2021 or a gigantic reach at qb, which is what many of you fear this year.

Regardless of the depth of next year's QB class (and I agree, it looks pretty weak), if the Giants believe in any of the QB's available, they should take him. Don't mess around, take the QB. I firmly believe the only reason they don't is if they don't think any of the available QB's are worthy.

last two concussions were within a month of each other. He also had a right shoulder injury that was successfully repaired his sophomore season

If he never sets foot on an NFL field this kid is likely financially set. I believe his great great grandfather on his mother's side was Joseph Wharton. His dad is a second generation surgeon.

He talks about wanting to maker a difference in the world and help the down trodden including helping college football players get a piece of the pie.

I want him too but point is that if he suffers one concussion he might quickly move on from the NFL.

You're not the only person to have this opinion, but I think people see that his parents are rich and make the easy stereotype.

First, I think it's unfair in that there's a tremendous amount of work involved to make it even this far. People who are committed enough to make it to the highest level in sports are not commonly associated with quitting.

Also, just because his parents are rich doesn't mean he is. Both his parents are independently successful. It's possible that he wasn't raised to think he never has to work in his life and it's possible that his mother and father expect him to make it on his own merit. ONe's a doctor and the other is a professor (I think I'm accurate on that)

Character dissection is common in the draft, but so is profiling. Give a scout any reason to apply a stereotype and he just might. Rosen gives off the sense that he's very intelligent, and being willing to speak his mind like a normal person might very easily make people assume he's a trust fund brat. Doesn't mean he is one.
I think Rosen is a hard worker and not a spoiled brat
xman : 3/14/2018 11:20 pm : link
But football might not be his ultimate goal. He has been quoted as saying " I have connections that will do me well in life'."I will be OK without football".

He is in rare territory. I think he sees life bigger then being an NFL QB.

That's why I say one concussion and done could be his commitment to NFL life. Who knows
