GIANT need: LT
Signed Solder
Resigned Greco
(Still need Guard help via FA or draft)
Big Need: LB
Trade for Ogletree
Signed Martin
Pretty Big Need: RB
Signed Stewart
(Hopefully we draft Barkley)
Need: CB
(Replace DRC or sign him back for cheaper)
Need: WR
(Sign a cheap vet or draft if Marshall is gone)
Great point
Any chance we go D.J Chark with 3rd pick? Kid ran a 4.34 40 and may drop to round 3 because LSU's passing game blew. Would really stretch the field for OBJ and Shepard

it will also be interesting to see his level of concern for the 3rd WR spot.

My favorite receiver is Anthony Miller. But if any of those 2-3 round receivers drop to our third, I'd be all on board for that.
Got to have some patience.
Let's really evaluate DG after a year or so, once you can begin to see how the moves turn out.
I saw that too. And that was in response to the Solder signing...
A couple of years ago, many celebrated the signing of Olivier Vernon and the re-signing of JPP to HUGE contracts. In hindsight, these were NOT good moves by the Giants.
Now New York just made Solder the highest paid lineman in the NFL for a guy who is generally considered in the 10-15 range (among 32 teams) of left tackles in the NFL.
The argument "the Giants had no choice" is not valid in my opinion. If we are sitting here in March 2019 or 2020 bitching about Solder's contract (like we are about now about JPP and Vernon), then this wasn't a smart move. Only time will tell.
The Giants are clearly all in on Eli Manning.
Very solid LT at what seems to be a fair market price tag. Not an all-pro, but a professional who is very solid, and who brings a winning resume.

careful? lol its a football team that i love. But i wont lose sleep if it doesnt pan out.
What if we draft Barkley, go 9-7 and miss the playoffs this year. Go 11-5 in 2019 and lose in the division round of the playoffs. Eli retires. We trade up and draft Jake Fromm in the 2020 draft. Would that be a tremendous error?
I think QB makes a lot of sense right now, but how can any single move be a "horrendous error", especially when it's not impossible to move up in the future if the present choices at QB don't inspire our FO?

it is a terrible signing, if Solder is just there because it is an upgrade and can be a building piece of high quality left tackle for five years, its an upgrade. Every time you get one player does not mean you did a good job. I am not going to say "Not too shabby so far" for about two years. I may have comments, but I am not coming up with conclusions other than I know picking Barkley would be a horrendous error.

If the Giants go 9-7, 10-6, or 11-5 and want to trade up for a franchise QB the price would be astronomical. They would have to give up at least three 1st round picks, plus a few 2nd's

you can make the case that eli has become a coach killer kind of player, this could be the year for it.

Highest paid anything in the NFL doesn't mean much anymore. IT is based on the fact that the CAP is much bigger than it was previously and guys benefit from that.

If he's middle of the pack of LTs on a team that made the SB, how is he going to look with a reassembled line likely to include some very raw talent and or patch-work guys. I'm expecting it to be very difficult for Solder to live up to the contract (see Vernon for guys who get killed for that around here). Hope I'm wrong...

Rewatch the Super Bowl eric. Did you see anyone on that awesome Eagles front touch Brady? Rejoice Eric.....this is a good day.

Be very careful of falling into the trap that just because the Giants signed somebody, it means they "fixed" a problem.

I kind of remember the game being decided by someone ripping the ball out of Brady's hands. In addition, Brady does a pretty good job of spotting coverages and getting rid of the ball. I think he is an upgrade, but this is far from a cure all and as I have said repeatedly if it is the impetus to make us go after Barkley, then I am pretty down on this move. I love Eli, but he has regressed and we need a plan for our future--one that starts with utilizing our second pick overall on a position of need for the future and one that is necessary to be successful in this league. Not only that but our division has two young qbs in Wentz and Prescott, you want to have the third best qb in your division, at best, for the next ten years??? I think Rosen could be better than both, by a lot. Let's not mess this up.
His knowledge of Patriot system will be extremely important, Brady gets rid of ball very quickly. Eli should watch and learn.
Possibly allows Eli to regain some of his ability, need at least one good year out of Eli.
Frees up OL draft board for LB and DL in early rounds. Probably a very good veteran influence on existing OL
gotta admit, I giggled.
