I don't know why it was even a question of if he would return to form. The only bone injuries that should be of concern are neck, spine, and small bone foot injuries. Other than that, it's pretty much accepted that bone injuries are a hundred times more preferable than muscle or ligament damage.

Agreed - which is why I always find it curious when people say he has to re establish himself, prove he can still perform like before, etc.
Why is there any doubt? He broke his ankle - he didn't tear ligaments or rupture his achilles.
