great roll of the dice at $500k. If last year is an aberration he could be a huge piece. He's made good defensive plays in every game I've seen so far.
Terry had very defined roles for his BP guys and was very rigid about it - he didn't want guys pitching outside of their comfort zone, which severely limited his options and wound up burning our key guys out by using them too often.
Callaway is using his entire 25 man roster. The bench players are all finding ways into games, all of the BP arms are pitching in different situations, and he's keeping everyone involved.
Brilliant managing so far. Easy to say while we're winning and everything is working - but it's hard to find much of anything not to like right now.
Perhaps the emptiest, lifeless game you’ll ever see...
More importantly, the future Mets:
Tiberi and Fermin staying hot in Columbia. Tiberi has looked fantastic in every game except for one bad one.
Bautista FILTHY again. This time with outstanding control, which will be his key to success. Didn’t crack triple digits, but the ball was moving and upper 90’s all night long.
Alonso with some good ABs

Except for Paul Sewald. Would love to get him some innings to take some stress off Ramos and Gsellman

Yeah, he will make his way into the mix sooner than later I think.

Yeah Sewald rarely getting in has been a little odd. Callaway has definitely done a great job but the combination of Swarzak's injury and the starters not going deep in games still has the BP on a somewhat unsustainable pace. Can't give up games but need to keep getting new guys in the game like they did with Robles. He's not great and like everyone else I'd have been fine to not see him this year because at some point he will meltdown, but when he's on he's good enough to save innings off the better guys.
Gsellman and Lugo have changed the entire complexion of the pen.
Neither guy pitched tonight - Rhame didn't pitch tonight, Blevins only faced one batter. All of them will be available tomorrow. Ramos didn't need to work too hard tonight either.
Not a guy I would bother looking at start to start. He’s a mechanical nightmare who realistically is a future pen guy if he fixes everything. When you see him go half a dozen games in a row of dominance, you can start to ask if it clicked.
Scherzer became an elite pitcher at the same age, actually - 28.
He started off as a BP arm for the Diamondbacks and really didn't become a premier SP until he won a CYA in Detroit in 2013. He's been basically untouchable since.
So, I'm not worried about Thor. I don't need complete games, either. But he's our co-ace and I think he's got to find ways to give us more than 6 most times out. That's how good teams keep their bullpens from getting taxed - with elite starters.
Cespedes
Bruce
Frazier
Cabrera
A-Gone
MVPLawecki
Thor
Rosario
Cespedes flies out for out 1.
Conforto moves on 2-1. Bruce takes and Conforto out by 5 feet.
Was just thinking that. Been in the 40s for nearly all -- if not all -- the games.
Smokes a single up the middle.
Turns on the inside FB with a lot more control to plate the first run.
1st and 3rd for Plaw.
Very nice!
Love this kid.
You’re only allowed to watch TDA games for now on.

Bah. MVPlawecki kills our shot at a big inning.

You are the reason they don’t televise Thor starts lol
Really hoping for 7+ from Noah this evening.
2 on, 0 out, 3-4-5 up.
Gotta get that thing down on the ground.
yep -- either a nail or a blister.
Something's up.
Something is up
Need to rattle the bats.
Been a disappointing start to his season, honestly,
Go figure.... he gets into the 6th with a lower PC and now his stuff isn't there.
Hopefully Robles has good stuff.
Robles, Ramos, Familia?
He didn't even make the team out of ST, and not positive, but I don't think he'd be using Swarzak this way.

I think he's trying to build Robles' confidence. Same reason why I think he's used Rhame in some high lev situations.
He wants these guys to be versatile and able to handle tight situations so that he has more options.
It's risky and dangerous but it's working so far.
Would be nice to add a run here before Familia comes in to slam the door.

Big time stuff!
Pitches into trouble, pitches out of trouble.
8-1.
Keep cruisin.
Nice win boys. Keep the line moving!

I bet we see Sewald tomorrow night.
Only Ramos and Blevins - and most of the outings were less than 1 inning.
Jake needs to go 7 tomorrow. Minimum.

I think Callahan is gradually ramping up their pitch counts. Doesn’t seem like a bad idea.
Kluber went 8 and struck out 13 - Scherzer went the distance.
That's what elite pitchers can do. Thor has to become that. He is good enough.
