doesn't mock trades, but staying at #2 and picking Chubb or really anyone else other than a QB or Barkley reeks of a lost opportunity.
I would be perfectly fine with that

Chubb
Sackrecord92 : 4/10/2018 9:36 am : link
Come on. Passing on a QB or a Stud RB ( yes I know that #2 pick is early for a RB) Chubb doesn't even for our scheme to boot.
I wouldn’t mind both third round
bradshaw44 : 4/10/2018 9:41 am : link
Picks being interior OL if the value is there. It’s where I think need plays a big roll over BPA unless there is a crazy BPA that slipped. Just my opinion.
Agree that Chubb @ 2 is a tough sell.
Chris684 : 4/10/2018 9:41 am : link
Anyone other than QB or Barkley at 2 is pretty much the only thing that would seem like a mistake.

If they can get back to the 5-7 range, pick upadditional assets, then take Chubb or Nelson, I'm all for it.
I know this has become the debate on here
Essex : 4/10/2018 9:50 am : link
but I think drafting anyone other than a QB at 2 is a mistake. My view is either take a QB, but if you honestly believe none is worthy trade down and get value for that pick.

Actually he references it in the article... in his last mock he mocked trades and pissed off Mel Kiper.. Kiper basically started yelling at him on Live TV for doing it. FWIW he mocked us trading out of 2 in his last official mock...
The draft is a total crap shoot
arniefez : 4/10/2018 10:04 am : link
but I'd be pretty excited if those were the Giants picks. However I hope they feel strongly enough about one of the QB's to at #2 to draft one.
Agree with Chris

::MEL KIPER voice::

The Thrill is surprised to see The Toddfather place Michel ahead of Guice in his mock. Thrilly The Kid likes the Sony Play Station Portable just fine, especially with his passing game skillset in a Shurmur O. Fumbles are an issue though. Meanwhile, Guice looks like a 1st rd RB (thinking Sea or NE) and would be difficult to pass at 34, although an Indy landing spot would be gorgeous for you dynasty fantasy gamers.

Speaking of CHUBB, Thrill wants to make a remark about his very favorite Chubb -- Nick Chubb. McShay mocks him 51 to the Lions; Thrill really hopes he's there for taking when The Org is up at 66. Just a fantastic stud RB who looks back to baseline after a ridiculously cruel knee injury. Pop in that freshman tape -- he'd be up there with Barkley if he never took a canonball to the kneecap. Thrill love loves him (like a son) as a pounder / screen-checkdown back.

Bradley you're cool too but not the Thrill's type in the top-2.
Solid Draft
MojoEd : 4/10/2018 10:26 am : link
Chubb might not be exciting, but he will be a solid player. Michael and Rankins are great picks as well, although I think Gettleman will get another OL at #34. From his comments, I don’t think G is leaving the draft without thinking they have fixed the OL once and for all.
Wow...
M.S. : 4/10/2018 10:27 am : link

...those are pretty good players he's mocking to us.
Sign me up for that draft
gmen9892 : 4/10/2018 10:33 am : link
Not my ideal pick at #2, but I would be perfectly okay with it.
Martinas Rankin is not going to play OT in the NFL
GFAN52 : 4/10/2018 10:54 am : link
His body is better suited to C or OG. Not crazy about that pick. But I could see Chubb being the pick and I don't see any trade down happening.
I really think these guys are just reading the interweb and

Chubb won't be a bust
Greg from LI : 4/10/2018 10:59 am : link
But he just doesn't have the star potential you want to see in a #2 overall pick.

I would remind you the greatest player to ever wear a Giants uniform was a defensive player drafted in the 2nd position. It is never a lost opportunity if you draft the best player in the draft plain and simple.

Disagree with this. Chubb is not LT. It's not about the "best player in the draft" it's about the player himself being worth the #2 pick or not. Positional need combined with talent determines the pick.

IMO, Barkley is one of those once-in-a-generation type prospects so I think he on the other hand would be worth the #2 pick despite being a RB.
Not saying Chubb is that guy,
Keith : 4/10/2018 12:31 pm : link
but a game changing DE>>>>>>top tier RB. Surprised to see people ok with a RB at 2, but not a DE. DE is so much more valuable than a RB in the NFL. Either way, for me, it's QB at 2 or trade back to 4-6 and get one of the other guys.
Would Chubb even make sence

Chubb is not 2nd round value .
TMS : 4/10/2018 4:56 pm : link
Barkley and Nelson at their positions are possibly all pro material for years. Or trade down for more picks or players. Trusting DG to be that crafty guru who can get this done. We were 11 and 5 two years ago. We can turn this ship around with this new management team.

2nd round value? Do you mean 2nd pick value?
Whats this love for
XBRONX : 4/10/2018 6:01 pm : link
Sony Michel? Big time fumbler. We don't need a turnover machine. He fumbles once every 54 carries. That was the knock on Joe Mixon last year and his fumble rate was once every 73 carries.
You HAVE to get more than
Dave on the UWS : 4/10/2018 6:37 pm : link
"solid player" at the #2 pick in the draft. I'm not even keen on Barkley there. They really need to draft a QB but if not AND bowled over by one of the QB hungry teams trade down a bit. Then Chubb or Barkley makes sense, not at 2 though.

Just his speed. I'd take Guice before Michel.
One of the worst Mock's for Giants you'll ever see
giantstock : 4/11/2018 12:54 am : link
1- SO you draft Chubb while knowing that he is less effective in the defense you want to run- the 3-4? For the poster trying to bring up the LT comparison.

I think the poster was an old timer. Maybe he can recall history in Bastogne when McAulliffe typed a response to the Germans -- N U T S.

Chubb NOT playing his natural position and comparing that to LT/bets player in the draft is N U T S.
If CHubb is not going to play his natural position then he won't be teh best player in the draft.

2-- You draft a 2 rd RB knowing there are quality rb's in other rounds yet you don't address the glaring hole inside? Guice won't have holes to run. Not giving the QB time to find OBJ other than slants and quick outs is SMART? The OLine is basically talentless other than LT, so the idea is to draft a RB even though you can get good quality in later RD 3 or Rd 4?
We need to fix the Offensive Line
GeorgeAdams33 : 4/11/2018 2:39 am : link
We have some talent at Tackle, but we are devoid of it on the interior. We must upgrade, especially at Guard. I would prefer if Jerry did not start, regardless of BBI's total worship of him as a future all pro and as a mountain of a man both physically and at heart.

I don't think you understand Bettcher.
If Barkley is there
TMS : 4/11/2018 12:29 pm : link
Think we go his way. Choice between Nelson and Chubb is a tough call we need both those positions in this draft. If we are going QB or trading down, all this is off the table. Unless it is down to the top 6 (non QBs) with the trade down

Agree have read many places that Chubb is much more suited to be a DE in a 4/3.
