***Step Away From The Ledge***
Yanks are 5-5. Four convincing wins by at least five runs — and their last two losses required 14 and 12 innings.
Huge road trip here to right the ship (feels weird to say on April 10th).
Bullpen seems to have gotten it together although the Baltimore series really worked everyone. Kahnle threw 48 pitches the other night. yikes..
Couple notes taken from RAB:
-Judge was on base 15 times during the six-game homestand and he’s hitting .289/.438/.500 (170 wRC+) in 48 plate appearances. Only two homers so far, but more will come. The walk rate (18.8%) is insane and yes, he’s still striking out a bunch (27.1%), but he’s striking out a tick less than less year (30.1%). Plus he’s playing the hell out of right field again.
-Austin Romine had three hits Sunday and is 6-for-15 (.400) in the super early going this season. Clearly changed his stance and is more closed than his stance from last year.
-Greg Bird admitted he played through soreness in his ankle during Spring Training, a day or two after Brandon Drury said he’s been battling migraines and blurry vision issues for years. Both said they didn’t tell anyone and tried to play through it.
Series Pitching Probables:
Sevy vs. Sale
Tanaka vs. Price
TBD vs Porcello (gotta be Gray right?)
Let's go Yanks!
I'm a little more worried than I was about Stanton in LF. He's pressing, and that probbably isn't helping. I could see Judge handling LF better. What do you guys think?
Yup, Judge also shot a couple base hits to right field on breaking balls away against the Os too. He doesn’t seem to be suffering from HR hype at all.
Stanton will come around, he’s looked off mechanically, swinging over a lot of pitches. Getting junkballed to death too, as would be expected.
I thought it refreshing to reach how honest Bird was about his ankle. Never really right after last season, and he tried his best to play through it.
Doesn’t make me any more confident that he’s anywhere close to getting past his injury problems and becoming a dependable starter, but not often we hear an athlete reveal so much.
Last year the Yankees were 11-8 versus Boston, 4-1 in the games played before the ASB, and 2-0 in Fenway in April.
But, if the Yanks get right and take 2 of 3, everyone suddenly feels a lot better about their start.
Red Sox are 8-1, 6-1 against the Rays and 2-0 against the Marlins. Yankees this week are the first Major League club on their schedule.
- Hicks will be playing tonight and tomorrow in Scranton. He will likely rejoin the team for the last game in Boston.
- Drury is still undergoing tests and his diagnosis is still up in the air.
- Admits base running has been very sloppy. Need to be smarter on the bases.
- Not worried about Stanton's struggles.
Judge RF
Stanton LF
Sanchez DH
Didi SS
Austin 1B
Andujar 3B
Romine C
Robinson CF
Severino on the mound.
Good lord....not getting the point of this. Robinson makes Peterson look like a good hitter in comparison.

Well, Hicks is expected back on Friday so it's only for a couple of games.
I think it has more to do with Sale than it does CF defense.

a series like this. Jeez.

even worse. Anne Bancroft/Mrs. Robinson is probably a better hitter than Shane Robinson. :
Scrap Iron??
