NFT: TJ Miller really screwed up big time.

Boy Cord : 4/10/2018 10:31 pm
First it was leaving Silicon Valley, then The Emoji Movie, then sexual harassment allegations, and now calling 911 about a bomb on a train.

That’s one hell of a year.

TJ Miller - ( New Window )
this is a huge screw up
markky : 4/10/2018 10:41 pm : link
he has a good career in movies ahead of him if he doesn't screw it up.

forget Emoji movie. he also has Ready Player One and Deadpool 2. but looks like he'll blow it.

yeah cuz he'll really feel any pain at all as a result of this.

Not a fan.
j_rud : 4/10/2018 11:24 pm : link
He was good on Silicon Valley but that's really it IMO. His stand up is painfully unfunny.
He's next in a long line of actors
Captplanet : 4/11/2018 6:58 am : link
who felt they were too big for the TV roles that made them famous.

See:
David Caruso
Katherine Heigl
Shelly Long
he's one of those guys

that you look at and say "how are you famous?"
Miller..

has been a trainwreck for sometime.

He comes across as being somewhat eccentric, but basically he just has addiction issues which I've heard are pretty bad.
he's fine in small roles
UConn4523 : 4/11/2018 9:04 am : link
sucks as a lead act. His stand up is atrocious. He's definitely a C list guy who can't afford a fuck up like this.
I think he's funny
Banks : 4/11/2018 9:13 am : link
but I've only seen him in movies and TV. I've yet to see his standup. He is a train wreck however. He was easily the best part of Silicon Valley, but he had issues showing up to work and many times he'd show up drunk and pass out between takes. He has serious issues he needs addressed.
It's sad that his ego along with substance abuse
Jay on the Island : 4/11/2018 11:13 am : link
Has lead to his downfall. He unwisely quit Silicone Valley which is the show that really made his career. I didn't watch his HBO comedy special because the previews looked awkwardly unfunny. From the reviews I didn't miss much.
TJ Miller is funny in small doses
Jay on the Island : 4/11/2018 11:14 am : link
as the supporting actor who provides occasional comic relief. He is not a lead actor type in any style.
Miller may not be stand-up funny
pjcas18 : 4/11/2018 11:35 am : link
but Silicon Valley has been terrible since he left.

And I'm on that same train twice a month, I wonder why he was on it.
He was also in the HBO
pjcas18 : 4/11/2018 11:37 am : link
series crashed or crashing I forget the name for a couple episodes and even though he played himself I thought his role was good and he did a good job with it.
Silicon Valley
UConn4523 : 4/11/2018 11:42 am : link
wasn't very good last year with him on it. His absence is barely felt, IMO, since the show has dipped in quality anyway.
I liked it
pjcas18 : 4/11/2018 11:45 am : link
even if last season wasn't the best and IMO his absence is absolutely felt. there is no lead now. Even if you don't think he was a great one, the others are all supporting characters.

it works sometimes, IMO, not on that show, it needs Miller's big personality.

but you are of course free to disagree.
it would be better with him there
UConn4523 : 4/11/2018 12:51 pm : link
but at this point i'm not sure how much better. I started losing interest last season and I watch out of habit now. If it was an hour long show I probably wouldn't bother anymore.
Silicon Valley took a huge hit when Miller left
Jay on the Island : 4/11/2018 1:02 pm : link
He was the star of the show. I still watch it but the show just isn't the same. The Yiang character just isn't very funny without miller.
I must be in the minority
Giantology : 4/11/2018 1:31 pm : link
I actually think the show is even funnier without him and has given the other characters more screen time and room to breathe. His character had run its course.

I agree with you. The show has been good this season so far. And I was a big Erlich fan.

He has only been gone from SV for three episodes. With that being said, this season has been weak.
The show is not what it was the first couple of seasons
steve in ky : 4/11/2018 7:41 pm : link
But that was already happening as shows so often run their course. I don't see a big drop off this season specific with Miller gone.
For some reason he was always in Vigneaults doghouse
Rob in Rockaway : 4/11/2018 7:45 pm : link
but he has size and talent so I think he can come back from this in Tampa Bay.

I saw him do stand up before he was really on the radar, shortly after he did "She's Out of My League" and played the character "Stainer". He was absolutely hilarious. Not sure if he fell off since then though as I haven't seen any new acts.
