If RG doesn't need too many pitches to get through the 8th I think Mick will just keep him in there. He can go 2.

Leave him in there for the 9th.

Crazy that we still have Swarzak coming back, too...

Just gotta hope we still have a fucking catcher.

Wheeler will definitely get another start after this. They slowed down Vargas's timetable recently. Ill tell you what.. If Wheeler puts another start like this together Vargas will be the highest paid long man in baseball. You cant send Wheeler down again if he's looking like this. You just cant. The more I think about it, Vargas would look excellent coming in after all our hard-throwing righties as a long man from time to time.

It's still a long shot for Wheeler because he has to do this again but Im rooting for him....

Familia
Swarzak
Gsellman
Lugo
Ramos
Blevins
Vargas (long)

Send Robles, Sewald, and Rhame to AAA.

Good Lord.

You can’t send Wheeler down. He was dominant tonight. Sandy deserves to be smacked if he sends Wheeler down

Agree, but I think Harvey has more of a bulldog mentality over matz. Matz strikes me as the type where he's great when things are going well but has issues with adversity
Is Rhame out of options?
Vanzetti : 4/11/2018 9:37 pm : link
That is the only reason I can think for his making the team. He needs to really improve his command before pitching against ML hitters

No dude. He literally debuted just last year. He has three full option years left. He made the team off merit in ST because he looked good and can crank it up to 97 mph. It's not a big deal. He'll be back in AAA when Swarzak and a few other guys get back.
Keep fingers crossed on Plaw

Whoohoo. LOVED that signing. I was practically begging for it all offseason. :)
Who would have though
pjcas18 : 4/11/2018 9:39 pm : link
Zack Wheeler, a traditionally low-inning pitcher, who didn't even make the team, would be the first starter to pitch 7 innings (I think even into the 7th inning).

This team is deep when healthy.
I have been watching the Mets since 1967
steve in ky : 4/11/2018 9:39 pm : link
Nice to see them do something I have never seen. 10-1 is sweet.
It hasn't been all
JayBinQueens : 4/11/2018 9:40 pm : link
Roses so far. This team has faced some adversity and overcome it.

I'm not going to pretend this will last all year but April games count and this is huge come the dog days of summer.

Let's not rehash last night's math problem lol but 9 games over. 500 puts us in a great spot already

To give credit where credit is due, you were 100% all in on the signing

The reason why we won the division in 2015 was because we did this (well, not quite this... but close) that April too.

That's why we were able to withstand that horrendous pre-Ces summer stretch where we literally could not score to save our lives.

Don't underestimate how important these wins still are.

Hopefully, Plawecki is ok. I could actually see Sandy trading for Realmuto this summer. We have a great team and not many weaknesses. That would be a huge move.

As long as the price isn't crazy, and plaw misses any time, it's a move that needs to be made,. Sooner than later

If Shecky is right about the cost of acquiring him, we should be on the horn with them as soon as he's healthy. Even if Plawecki is okay.

It's early but this team clearly has the pieces to be in the mix all year. We'd be even better with Realmuto.
