Connor Williams OT Texas

jvm52106 : 4/13/2018 9:49 am
is on the opening drive right now. Guy sounds like a pretty unselfish guy and a guy willing to play anywhere along the line. Two years ago played at 305 and last year 320 and feels that 305 is much better for him. Booger McFarland and Ross Tucker asked him about his weight and if he feels he can anchor at 305 etc.

I think this guy will be a very good player in the NFL and someone who I think will slide in the draft some and turn out to be a steal.

He is a young guy, currently just 20 years old. Not a huge conversationalist. He gets asked a question and he answers and ends his answer a lot quicker than Booger and Tucker expected so a lot of dead air.
Would make a lot of sense at #34

if he is still available. But I doubt it...

Is he Jake Matthews or just Will Beatty with shorter arms?

If you think he can lock down RT or a guard spot, and eventually replace Solder, sure. But wouldn't it be hard to pick him over a surer thing for the interior OL (Price, Wynn, Daniels, maybe Smith/Hernandez)?
He is close to Jake Matthews

If his knee completely checks out he has a shot at being the first OL taken. He would be good value in the 2nd round and there are a couple things you can do with him
He plays with great balance and technique

He’s got good feet, he anti flowers.
Because

of the knee injury, 2017 was basically a wasted year for him. His 2016 tape is terrific. As Sy said, if his knee checks out, he'd be a great pick at #34, but I doubt he lasts that long. Much better than Crosby.

No what? I've seen you do this a lot, Jeff. You post one liners like you're an authority on all things football. You never give any explanation or detail. It's very discrediting. Some guys can get away with it (BB 56, Joey in VA), but you haven't proven that you can.

With regard to Connor Williams, I would absolutely roll the dice with him if we trade down into the 20's. Short arms aside, he has a lot of raw talent and the feet necessary for the LT position. He was MUCH, MUCH better later in the season after the Maryland game and after he came back from his injury. At best, you get a franchise LT. At worse, you get an excellent, athletic OG.
I didn’t know there were so many rules on posting. I guess we all need

And what the heck does “very discrediting” mean?

There aren't, but that's Jeff's M.O. He's never made a post that was longer than a sentence or two. He pretends like his word is gospel.

It means his opinion means shit
IMO, Williams would be a steal in the 2nd round

This guy could be the best OT in the draft. As stated, as long as his knee is healthy.
His willingness to play anywhere

is certainly a positive. NYG needs help all over the Oline.
