Truth is the Giants are playing this tremendously, no one has any idea what they might do. This is a breath of fresh air compared to the last regime where they telegraphed everything.
Nobody said they were but rb is about production and not who sells more jerseys and has great combine numbers
Huh?
He means to say that generational talent can only be at the QB position, and not RB. You can plug in any old running back in the NFL. Look at how great Dallas did when 'Zeke was out.
You are correct. Sit back relax and let the draft happen.
+1.
With all the possibilities, and 13 days out from the draft, teams are still (re-) setting their board, and a few of the first dozen looking to/ willing to move With the right offer, including the #2 pick team.
Somewhere between 8:15-8:30pm. on the 26th we'll get the answer.
RE: RE: I didn't know anyone watched ESPN anymore. I also didn't know Â
Chris Mortensen & Schefter are two of the most plugged in reporters for any sport. Schefter is probably #1 and Mortensen isn't far behind.
I don't doubt either of them when it comes to NFL news in general, but neither one has ever been a source for real info on the Giants. It's not one of the teams either one is "plugged in" to. Garafolo is the only guy who is now a national reporter that has ever been on the money with the Giants.

Schefter has broke plenty of Giants news. Definitely broke the Jackrabbit & Snacks signing. He broke the Nate Solder signing this year. He broke the Alec Ogletree trade this year. He's broken plenty of Giants news. He broke the JPP news and basically everything about it. Also pretty sure he broke the JPP trade to the Bucs.
Jenkins and Harrison is too far back to check. Hard to give him credit for trafficking in someone's private medical information he shouldn't have had access to or shared, and he was sued for that. Also, trades are a two way street. He could have gotten the Ogletree deal from the LA side. Or the Tampa side from the JPP trade.
And more recently, he was pretty off on everything about the Beckham non-story.
Not convinced he's got access to what the Giants may or may not do.
"He and Jeff Saturday said that there are 10 running backs ESPN projects in top 3 rounds and all have the value that will improve any running game."
Smart comment. Is Barkley really good...yes. Is the value differential of the Barkley versus the RB you could get in Rd 2 or 3 or next year that much different...nope.
A super charged RB would be a nice guy to have, but we need a QB in the worst way and are in perfect position to find one this year.
The RB that we need will work in a later round this year or in next years draft. Wasting the #2 pick on that position when WE HAVE TO HAVE A QB IS SIMPLY AN EGREGIOUS DECISION...
RE: value differential of Barkley versus the RB you could get in Rd2 Â
Sy '56 has Barkley at a 94 rating, with the next RB at 81. This is by the far the largest differential between the 1st and 2nd player by position he has.
As I've recounted before, on NFL Radio Gil Brandt said that Barkley is "Secretariat" and the other 2018 RBs are "plow horses".
The difference between Barkley and the other RBs is much greater than the differences among the QBs. I think the bust potential for Barkley is very low.

then Gil Brandt is a schmuck. You don't take a RB at #2 if you are the Giants. You take one of the QBs.
I appreciate the concern about a Running Back with second pick... Â
And if Gettleman concludes that trading the pick for a haul of players is more important than putting too many eggs on Barkley, I get it. But please stop saying that other running backs are "nearly as good". Barkley is a Walter Payton / Barry Sanders / Emmitt Smith once in a decade type of player. Yes, the game has changed - but Barkley is even more dangerous in the passing attack than any of these three backs so please go easy on the "old timer" insults...
Here are the other first round running backs taken in those three drafts - only several reasonably good backs including Rodney Hampton. But no one could be even remotely comparable to these three HOF backs. While it may be ultimately prudent for Gettleman to pass on Barkley, it could turn out to be a huge miscalculation:
1975
#4 Walter Payton
#15 Don Hardemann
1989
#3 Barry Sanders
#7 Tim Worley
#9 Sammy Smith
#26 Cleveland Gary
Supp Bobby Humphrey
1990
#3 Blair Thomas #17 Emmitt Smith
#19 Darrell Thompson
#20 Steve Broussard
#24 Rodney Hampton
#25 Dexter Carter

A few points of rebuttal
Payton was great. No doubt. But he won his SB in his 9th of 10 HoF quality seasons. Meaning- it wasnt him responsible. It was the greatest defense of all time. He was basically the same player he was when the Bears could barely win a game.
Barry obviously never won. He barely made the playoffs. Much like Payton, most of his HoF quality seasons were in years their teams struggled to win games and didnt make playoffs.
neither of the 2 players have a significant playoff or SB history. The 2 of them combined for a total of 3 playoff TDs in their career. Barry was in 6 games and only 386 yards and Payton 9 games and 636 yards.
So the 2 of them totaled 15 playoff games with just over 1000 yards and 3 TDs. Not really great. only 2 100-yd games combined.
As for Emmitt. He was great too. But can you also get the Giants a Troy Aikman HOF QB to go with him?
Not to mention a Michael Irvin, incredible OL, excellent D and a Jimmy Johnson as HC?
Thank you
It must be true... it just must!
Nobody said they were but rb is about production and not who sells more jerseys and has great combine numbers
Hahaha!!!! I musta watched that movie dozens of times back when it was on HBO. It was pure gold, GOLD, I tell you!......

Actually, Eli confirmed during his “America’s Game” interview in 2008 that the doctor did in fact diagnose a month long injury.
