How is Walker over Austin a "bonehead" move? Austin is not Greg Bird as a prospect nor is he producing at an untouchable level. Who cares?! Not giving u shit, but its a relatively minor thing to be upset about.

Unless Im missing sarcasm....

I'm actually also upset that Austin is sitting

I'm upset because there doesn't seem to be a day that goes by that Boone doesn't pull some bonehead move. Usually its mishandling pitchers but lately its been questionable lineup moves. Walker is batting .200 with no power. Austin may not be Babe Ruth but he's doing considerably better than that. Not only that, but Walker is out of position. In Boston why was Torreyes sitting against two left handers ?

I'll admit that Boone's bungling so far hasn't cost as games with the possible exception of the Smoak grandslam game. Up until now the games have been so one sided that I can't put it on anything that Boone did or didn't do. But its only a matter of time before he burns out one of these pitchers or we start losing close ones because the right guys weren't on the field

Yet are 7-7 to show for it.

Cash missing out on Otani wasnt really in his control (he didnt want NY). It still early but Cole to me was a big miss. I would have ponied up the prospects (short of Gleyber and maybe 1-2 pitchers to get him).

I wouldn't count on Gleyber just yet, according to Boone "Torres, though hitting well in the minors, was not quite in groove the Yankees would like to see". I think they are going to give him more time to knock off the rust and get back to swinging the bat the way he was pre-injury.

Why? They should have included him once it appeared Didi could handle SS. The paths of team construction are littered with the corpses of failed prospects. Cole had already made it. Cole-Severino-Tanaka-Gray would have been a very nice and young rotation. No one knows squat about Torres in the majors.

George Steinbrenner isn't running the Yanks anymore. Torres is the crown jewel of the Yankees' farm system, most baseball experts rank him as a top-5 prospect in all of baseball, he was hitting well when injured last year, and many believe he is destine for stardom. He is the type of player you keep. He will most likely be the Yank's starting 2nd basemen at some point this year.

I know two of the three traded for Gray were coming off significant injuries, but I still think the Yanks gave way too much talent up for a mid to backend rotation guy.
Yankees are still playing the long game to some degree.

They still have to introduce Torres, Frazier and Sheffield, with Florial in the pipeline. Plus, they'll make a free agent splash of some kind next winter. They may not be ahead of the Sox and Astros yet, but they'll outlast them over the next few years. Fuck Gerrit Cole.

Torres is on the cusp of major league ready, not a prospect with potential.

He will have a more impactful major league career than Cole and will retire with more rings.

This is a GM, scouting department, and minor league system that is hitting an all cylinders right now.

They're probably using silly shit like advanced analytics and stuff to figure it out. Crazy right?
