NFT: Kiawah Island dining recs

DC Gmen Fan : 4/16/2018 8:37 pm
Heading to Kiawah in June for vacay. Anyone have some good must-go-to dining recs? Kid friendly helps. We'll be staying on the sanctuary resort in a condo. On the website, Ryder Cup Bar and Cherry BBQ look good. Anyone have some personal experiences?

Thanks

For lunch. Great views of the Oceanside course and great cocktails.

Jasmine Porch for Dinner. Some of the best meals ive ever had have been at that restaraunt.

Cherrywood is ok but I’m a bit of a barbecue snob.
We’ve taken my 8 year old to Jasmine Porch....

And he was fine. Most of the restaraunts do have kid menus IIRC.

did you ever try home team BBQ? I tried their location in Aspen last week and it was the best ribs I have ever eaten (I'm a snob too). They have CHS locations too.

Other things we were looking at are Reds Ice House and the Fat Hen.

Red’s is great for kids and Fat Hen is one of our favs. Get to Fat Hen by 5:30. The Ryder Cup bar is my favorite sun set locale. Go to Tomasso’s but get a table in the bar. Jasmine porch is always good and two fun lunch spots while biking are Logger Head at the Sanctuary pool and Night Heron Park Grill (check out the animal sanctuary next door).

Also, in the freshwatch village is La Tela which has the best pizza there but very expensive. Sit outside on deck and watch gators cross the course while at Cherrywood. If looking for Mexican, there is a place upstairs next to Red’s. Forgot name.

Been going for 30 years, let me know if you need any more questions.
Red’s Ice House is fun.....

Bohicket Marina is a nice place to watch the sunset.

Red’s is a more relaxed place, burgers, shrimp, low country boil etc....

We usually eat at Reds once or twice a year. It’s cheaper than the restaraunts in the resort.

Never been to Fat Hen
We go almost every year.

LOVE Kiawah! Cherrywood is great. Eat on the porch and watch the gators. Good beer list. Candied jalapenos are killer!

Reds is fun. Bohicket is a nice place to relax or walk around.

The Sanctuary for breakfast is our fav. Say hi to the omelet lady for me!

Loggerhead Grill is ok too.

yea gottttttttta be the Ryder Cup Bar

during the day it is a REALLY REALLY special view. I am pretty sure I have ordered the burger every time I have eaten there, but my friends have gotten other stuff and it is all amazing.

Freshfields has a couple of good restaurants right on the Island. If you venture off the Island, there's a Home Team BBQ in West Ashley and several good eateries along Folly Road -- see if Bowen's Island Restaurant is having their Oyster Roast. I've heard that Sunrise Bistro has a good brunch too. Cross the bridge into Chuck-town and there's a whole catalog of good restaurants.

in Freshfield's village is good, doesn't have the views and atmosphere of the other places though. Breakfast sandwiches at the station are always clutch in a pinch too.
